You know the good old song, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. Well I have adapted it to my own little theory, a spoonful of honey helps the medicine become unnecessary. Completely. It might just be a coincidence, but since I stopped having sugar in my tea and replaced it for honey – I have not had any illnesses. It has been about 5 months now since I cut out sugar and I am having at least one spoonful of honey per day.

Honey has helped me stay healthy

It will probably be that I get a cold now I have written this, but it really has amazed me. I have been fine, when the children have had coughs, colds and sore throats – I literally haven’t had anything. This could be coupled with the fact that Isla is starting to sleep through the night now, so I am getting more of a 7-8 hours sleep every night. For the first time in 3 years. I am trying to eat more healthy and I am also trying to get fit on top of it all too.

So with my honey replacement for sugar and a good nights sleep each night, I am planning to really tackle my fitness this year. I have renewed my gym membership, so I will be using the equipment and classes, also taking the children swimming more often. We can go after school and it will be a fun thing to do regularly. I have also just purchased the #30dayshred DVD, so expect to see a lot of before and after photos throughout January/February.

My plan is…

  1. Do the #30dayshred DVD and loose the weight from my belly and thighs which has accumulated since giving birth to Isla. Yes it’s taken me 3 and a half years to start shifting it.

  2. Use the gym classes and equipment to tone up my belly and muscles after losing the weight from step 1. I have also got the Zumba game for my XBOX so I will see if that helps too.

  3. Start jogging/running regularly.

  4. Continue to eat healthily by:

    1. Cutting down on my tea/coffee consumption to just one a day

    2. Cutting out sweet treats to at the most 4 a week

    3. Eat healthy dinners at an early time (I normally eat about 8pm which is quite late)

  5. I am also planning on getting some more early nights, I have learnt that midnight is not a good time to go to bed.

So this is my 5 step plan for the year. I am really lucky that I have a supportive hubby who knows quite a lot about food and exercise, since losing around 4 trousers sizes last year. He looks amazing and is totally my inspiration. So, fingers crossed I can keep it up but just to get through the #30dayshred will be a miracle!

I would love to know any tips and tricks you have too…
