Make the most of outdoor family adventures during lockdown

Make the most of outdoor family adventures during lockdown

Although we are now technically out of lockdown, the tier system is in full swing and there is still a lot of chatter about another lockdown at the beginning of 2021. With that in mind, I thought I would pull together some simple ideas to encourage everyone to get outdoors and make the most of family adventures. It doesn’t have to be a thoroughly organised affair, a quick dash out to get some well-earned fresh air.  VIEW the POST

5 Essentials you need on a day out with the kids

5 Essentials you need on a day out with the kids

I had grand plans at the start of the year to do some fun family travel posts, but as you can imagine, this plan was foiled. Something to do with a pandemic! So, instead we have been using the products I was going to mention in our staycations and a day out with the kids. Going out with the kiddies can always be tricky, but these are 5 essentials that I never leave the house without. And, they will also be on our packing list when we go away next. VIEW the POST

Amazing family walking route in the awesome Peak District

We love going to the Peak District and have been there a few times as a family. We have camped and more recently we stayed at a hotel in Sheffield where we drove into the Peaks every day. This time we walked up Kinder Scout on one of the hottest days this Summer (so far) and it was really nice to get back to an air conditioned hotel room. This is the route we took in the awesome Peak District.

Rumble Live Action Gaming at Grafham Water

Rumble Live Action Gaming at Grafham Water

We had THE best time at Rumble Live Action Gaming last week, it kicked off the Summer Holidays perfectly. It is based at Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire and it is great outdoor family fun. Plan your visit by cycling around Grafham Water, having a picnic by the lake and then trying your accuracy skills at Rumble afterwards! Or, the other way around of course. VIEW the POST

Celebrating Mother’s Day by spoiling Mum at centre:mk

Celebrating Mother’s Day by spoiling Mum at centre:mk

I felt so honoured to be invited to go to centre:mk with my Mumma, take Mum around the shops, out for lunch and even a lovely hand massage. centre:mk is one of the top 10 shopping destinations in the UK and it is my go to place to shop. I love it. It was a lovely day; we never get to do stuff like this anymore as life is just so hectic. It was definitely nice to spoil her as part of the #CMKSpoilHer campaign. VIEW the POST

20 outdoor activities for children in and around Cambridgeshire

It got me thinking that we do so much with the children and I do not document it all, a lot of things we do that are free too. Although this is based in and around Cambridgeshire you can find similar things to do in the area of the world you live. All you need is a little imagination... VIEW the POST

A family day out at the races #theJulycourse

We had such a fun day at Newmarket Racecourse for the annual Moet & Chandon July festival, which is taking place between 11-13 July 2019. We were invited to the family enclosure with our very own picnic to enjoy the races and have lots of family fun. And, we did! VIEW the POST

Our family fun day at Planet Ice MK

Our family fun day at Planet Ice MK

We were super lucky to get an afternoon at Planet Ice in Milton Keynes at the weekend. We went ice skating for around 90 minutes and then had a well earned Papa John's meal afterwards. It was a great afternoon. The kids had not skated before and I haven't done it for years, it was quite scary when you first get back on the slippy ice. VIEW the POST

Outdoor exploring and a little make believe magic

Outdoor exploring and a little make believe magic

For those of you who have read this blog for some of the 9 years of its life, you will know that when the children were younger we used to link up to Country Kids almost every week. As they have got older and we have done different things, or just been rather busy, it slowed down. With my new screen time trick though it's proving that we are getting out and having fun outdoor exploring, which I love. VIEW the POST

Free days out with the kids: Rutland Water

Free days out with the kids: Rutland Water

Today and yesterday we had a lot of fun exploring Rutland Water. It's not far from Stamford, just north of Peterborough and yes it's free. Apart from a small car park charge. There is so much to do there that you can easily fill up a day or two. Lots to see and explore too - cycling, rock climbing, beach, parks and many places to stop for a cuppa or ice cream.  VIEW the POST

The Summer has officially started and we have been making the most out of it. Rutland water is a great place to spend family time: there is a beach, lake, huge park and cycle paths. We had lots of fun and a yummy picnic too! Not forgetting a well earned ice cream from the lakeside cafe.  VIEW the POST

Wimpole Home Farm on the first day of Spring

I didn’t realise it was the first day of Spring on Sunday, until we got home from a trip to Home Farm at Wimpole Hall, a lovely National Trust estate near us. What a perfect way to spend the start of Spring, running around a beautiful location full of flowers and baby animals of course. The kids had a great time exploring and playing on the tractors.
