As Spring taught us that our gardens can be a safe haven during a pandemic, I believe that this will be no different during Autumn. As we all know, Autumn is my favourite season. I am starting to think about getting the garden ready for Autumn and ensuring everything is tidied up and put away, ready for the colder months ahead. We have been working hard on updating this house over the past 8 months, I still can't believe we have only been here 8 months. What with all the work that needs doing, including the garden, it is nice to just have a place to sit in comfort and relax. We were recently sent a great parcel of goodies from Tiger Box, including a nice Tiger box and some seedcell herb seeds to plant. It was a fantastic kit, we especially loved how easy it was to use the seedcells, tear and dip into the soil. It is summer and the flowers are beginning to bloom, there are some brilliant colours opening up in the garden at the moment and we are trying again with the little sunflowers as the last batch were eaten by slugs - I am prepared this time, I bought slug pellets (safe ones mind you). VIEW the POST

I sorted through our greenhouse a few weeks ago and since then I have been venturing into the "homegrown" world and planting seeds, to hopefully make some food for us to eat. I have planted a range of herbs, chilli's and salad items and hopefully they will grow nicely. VIEW the POST

Well its week 3 and I am deeply shocked at what I saw this week: out of the 4 seedlings that survived, once put into the garden to get some more sunlight only 1 has managed to see it through to week 3. The others have literally disappeared - but how? VIEW the POST

One week on from planting our little sunflower seeds and spending 3 or 4 days in the greenhouse not really doing anything, I moved them into a mini greenhouse tray and put them directly in the sunlight, they get the majority of the sun throughout the afternoon and early evening. I read somewhere that Calendula flowers were quite hardy and easy to grow, for a beginner, like me. So I got a packet of seeds and thought I would give it a whirl.
