My top tips when doing DIY at home

I have had a lotttt of feedback about our kitchen worktop makeover. It's been so lovely to see everyone commenting and asking questions, it has been a popular post in the Frenchic Facebook Group, I posted it in there as I painted my cupboards using Frenchic first. Here are some other tips I have discovered whilst doing DIY at home, that you may find useful. VIEW the POST

Making our family home – Kitchen worktops

Making our family home – Kitchen worktops

I posted my kitchen worktops makeover on the Facebook Frenchic Group and I have received so many questions I thought I would answer them here. We had a quote for new worktops, it was £1,000 and we simply do not have that right now. So, I found a vinyl covering called DC Fix that covers our old worktop perfectly and creates a new look. All for under £50. This post details how I did it and what you will need. VIEW the POST

Month 2 of making our family home

Month 2 of making our family home

We seem to have done a lot this month, month 2, we have changed a lot. Some things just a little and some drastic changes too. The bathroom is coming along. We have about another week to go until I can have a bath in my bathroom. So excited. You can see what we did in month 1 in my previous post. Since then we have done the following: VIEW the POST

Week 7 of making our family home

Week 7 of making our family home

Since the update last week, we have booked in to have our kitchen floor tiled and also our bathroom is being plastered. So this weekend we have to get all the tiles off of the bathroom wall. We have spent our time doing a bit of gardening and sorting over the past few weeks. I have also made a start on my test kitchen cupboard door with an undercoat layer. VIEW the POST

Month 1 of making our family home

I cannot believe how quickly this month has gone. It is absolutely crazy. I keep forgetting to log what we have been doing with just before photos. That’s the bit I needed the most. So, our first month in our new home and we have decorated main rooms, have the cooker installed, started the bathroom and nearly finished the dining room. We have done a lot since our last weekly update. …

Week 4 of making our home

Week 4 of making our home

Woohoo! The cooker is in. We had the electrician out all day yesterday and he had to install a cooker line from the fuse board. This house didn't have one before. We now have a nice little cooker on/off switch and a rather powerful electric fan oven. VIEW the POST

Week 3 of making our home

Week 3 of making our home

It has been a slow week for renovations compared to week 2. However, we have got a few things lined up and ready to go now. It's amazing how difficult the logistics of everything can seem at times - for example in order to get my bath I have to do 5 things before hand. Here are our updates in our third week in our new home... VIEW the POST

Week 2 of making our home

Week 2 of making our home has been awful. Completely tiring and stressful. We completely underestimated how much stuff we had in the old house and just how long it would take to get it from A to B – without a van! Unfortunately we spent all weekend apart whilst Hubby was sorting the old house and I was sorting the new house and we are completely busy for the next couple of weekends – so it’s been a bit slow! …

Week 1 of making our home

Week 1 of making our home

It has been an extremely busy first week in our new home, we really wanted to make the most of it. And we did! We have been non-stop working, almost around the clock and we have got so much done. We are really happy with the hard work. I thought I would do some before and after photos to document week 1. I love making our home, it's a lot of fun. VIEW the POST
