There are a few things that have become a must for us when choosing a package holiday. TUI got it so right with the Holiday Village in Sarigerme, Turkey, that we have been trying to replicate the same feeling ever since. It has something for everyone, and isn’t that what a package holiday is all about? Here is why Summer package holidays in Turkey are great for family adventures…
We went to the Holiday Village Türkiye before the children were at school, September 2014, so Noah was nearly 4 and Isla was 2. There was something for us all to do, it really did feel like a village. Firstly, I want to point out the pools, the large main swimming pool was just epic. There is no other word to describe it. It was so large that there was always room to swim and have fun. One end had a faux beach area, so you could sit in the shallow waters and the other had a deeper area (that’s where the photo above was shot). There is also the pool with the slides, the children’s pool and a few various pools scattered around the properties if you want a quieter swim. Yes, there are 7 pools in total!
The kids loved the children’s pool as it was near the kid’s club. The club had morning and afternoon sessions and was split into age groups. When we went Noah had to go into one kid’s club and Isla got to go in the creche as she was under 3. This meant we got a little time together or one and one time with the children, which was lovely. I love the kid’s clubs as it means the children get a break from the sun and heat.
The children had their own little buffet area in the main restaurant, they loved it as they could pick what they wanted to eat. It gave them a bit of independence and because they were choosing their food, it meant they were a little more adventurous than normal. Ice creams were served in the afternoons, by the pool, they loved queuing up for those and the pancakes were just amazing. Noah still talks about these!
Every night there is entertainment, a disco and a show of some kind. The children absolutely loved it – they were up getting involved whenever they had the chance. It was nice to see them so happy and engaged.
The village has an abundance of eateries, they cater for pretty much everything you fancy, buffet, Asian, Italian, Turkish and a snack bar by the pool. There are 5 restaurants in total and stalls scattered around the site to get those in-between snacks. We loved the a la carte restaurants, you have to book them and when we visited you could only book into each restaurant once (I assume it is still the same policy).
We booked some great excursions whilst staying here and explored Turkey. We did a boat trip and saw some incredible sights and sea turtles on one trip and went dipping in a mud bath on another. It was a really great experience; travel was from the hotel and included all our food and dropped us back at the hotel afterwards. We had a real adventure.
I loved the fact you could take a beautiful walk through the gardens to get to the private beach area. It was a lovely walk, and the beach is kitted out with loungers and shade if you want to feel the sand on your toes and listen to the sound of the waves. The below photo was taken on our way to the beach one day, I love it.
When we visited there had been a number of rooms recently renovated and we had one of the suites. There was an area for the kids to sleep in which had a TV and doors on to a balcony and there was a bedroom for the grown-ups. The bathrooms had a hair dryer and plenty of room for a family of 4. There was a safe in the room and air-con which came in really handy. There is everything you could possibly need as a family, it’s a great location for those Summer package holidays.
