Making the most of our beautiful cottage and its grounds, screamed out for a legendary Easter egg hunt. I was quite proud of the final hunt, albeit it didn’t work out the way I had planned. I don’t suppose it will with a 7, 5, 4 & 2 year old! We had fun though and the kiddies enjoyed finding the eggs as much as I did hiding them. I think I am a natural at playing Easter bunny…

So it all began with the planning

I had hundreds of little chocolate eggs and a collection of plastic eggs to keep the foiled wrapped chocolate eggs safe. Once all the eggs were filled with yummy surprises I made a “route” around the grounds starting from the garage door. I put bunny paw prints, follow me and this way signs all around the garden. With every sign came a collection of 4 eggs.

Now I had to make sure at every stop there were 4 eggs so they all got the same amount. My kids would squabble endlessly if one had more chocolate than the other. So to avoid any disappointment, or the fact Noah is faster and could whoosh around to get all the eggs first, I made sure it was a fair Easter egg hunt.

It was fun as I could be creative, I hid them high and low:

1, 2, 3….. Go Go Go

The children loved it. They set off and one of them ran in the opposite direction to my route, one ran to collection number 3. My anxiety levels were getting higher and higher. Breathe Sonia. They are tiny humans. The kiddies were so excited that they didn’t care about a route, all they thought about was charge and find chocolate. They did get it in the end, with a little help from the grown ups. They soon grasped the concept that all the kiddies had equal amounts of chocolate & they all made sure they had an egg.

Here are some of my favourite photos from our Easter egg hunt, I am very glad we had such a nice garden to do it in. You can hire Clare Cottage from Norfolk Country Cottages
