We spent the first half of our Easter holidays in Gunthorpe, Norfolk. It wasn’t quite the weather we had last Easter, but we did get one whole day of dry. We went away with friends and stayed in a beautiful cottage, Clare Cottage, that we hired from Norfolk Country Cottages. It was the perfect way to relax, ready for the last term of school.

The cottage was amazing, it felt huge. Considering we were a party of 8, the property felt really spacious. The lounge was big, with plenty of space to sit around the gorgeous log fire and the dining table sat all 8 of us which was fabulous. There was also a play room and a huge utility area. Perfect for drying our rain coats and muddy wellies. On arrival, we were welcomed by a huge basket of chocolate Easter eggs and a very scrumptious chocolate cake (homemade). It was a lovely touch.

The grounds made for a perfect Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning. The back garden was split into 4 main areas: the left hand side of the house has a really amazing stone bench and table creation with views of the lovely flowers. The right hand side has a huge wild area with space around it, the children loved it  because they could run around it, it acted like a track. The south of the garden was perfect for our games of Croquet and you could walk down to the bottom where there is a bridge and stream. It was perfect for playing pooh sticks! Then past the gate a huge field full of Mumma Sheep and their baby lambs. It was so amazing waking up and watching the little lambs bouncing all over the field.

You can see a little video of Clare Cottage that I put on YouTube, it shows the amazing grounds around the cottage at the beginning. Then a little of what we got up to with the kiddies. It was really fun. The peace and quiet, the sound of the amazing countryside, it can really only be captured in a video.

We had a really fun week, despite of the rainy weather. We made the most of the wonderful places around us. Gunthorpe is near the north coast, so we went to the beach a few times. We went to our favourite beach, Wells-next-the-sea and Salthouse too. It is also near Fakenham, which came in handy as we utilised the soft play too.

These are some of my favourite photos of our holiday in Norfolk, some fabulous memories made. We cannot wait to go back. I would love to know what you got up to over the Easter holidays, in the comments below or on social media: @mummyconstant.
