Noah and Isla have only watched Scooby Doo a couple of times and they really enjoyed it, especially the new puppet version of the show. So when we were sent the Scooby Doo Trap Time Deluxe Mystery Machine Play Set they knew exactly what it was for – catching monsters and saving Scooby Doo. This play set is fantastic to feed little imaginations.
As you can see from the pictures the usual monsters we catch are Mickey Mouse and Pluto, but sometimes I see Noah zooming around the playroom with his “imaginary” monsters in the cage. The great thing about the Mystery Machine is that you can use it as a normal van, brumming around the road with the other vehicles we have in the playroom or it can be opened up and used to fight crime against monsters and villans. The limits are only with their imaginations really.
You are probably wondering why Noah and Isla catch Mickey Mouse and Pluto, unfortunately there are no figures included in the box. So you get a very fab Mystery Machine but no monsters or Scooby characters to role play with. Saying that, you can buy them separately and complete the monster catching set. They are not very expensive either! So that is always a bonus.
The play set comes with a monster catching net that fires out of the cannon on the top of the van, but for safety reasons (Isla) we removed it from the playroom. I had horrid visions of Isla choking on it, or Noah trying to capture her with it. They can have it back when she is a little bit bigger. I am not that mean!
It’s a great size for toddlers to play with, 11.5 x 23 x 17 cm and it recommended for over 3 year olds, I am guessing that is because of the net features. You can buy the play set for Β£19.99 which is not a bad price at all considering it’s not just a van, it’s a monster catching, villain chasing, fun packed van.
