It has taken me 6 months, but I finally got around to decorating little Isla’s room how I wanted. I had all the curtains, bedding and paint ready and waiting – but never found the time to get the painting done. Well last week I did and I absolutely love her new “big girl” princess room and so does she.
I love all the little decorations and personalised gifts that Isla has in her room, gifts from friends and family from birth and her christening. It is lovely as whenever I go into her room it makes me remember way back to when she was a little baby. So tiny. 5lb 12oz. She was a dinky donut as I used to call her. Now she is getting a little bigger and is growing a keen interest in things, she loves pink and teddies and princessess/fairies. So I incorporated that into her room theme.
I got her bedding from Next, they do a lovely fairy range for toddler beds and the matching curtains. I love the floral pattern and the combination of fairy princesses as Isla calls them. They are so girly and elegant, she loves her bed and I don’t blame her when she has such a beautiful bed to get into. The pattern is versatile, I can wash her fairy bedding and use another pink patterned bedset and it still looks lovely in her room. Great when you have to wash bedding over and over.
For the feature wall, I wanted to use a lovely deep pink because I knew the wall stickers were mainly lighter colours and I really wanted them to show up. So after many colour charts and hours spent in Homebase, I finally chose the Raspberry Coulis from the Home of Colour range, it is a great colour and although it wasn’t advertised as a one coat paint, I only needed to do one coat with a few touch ups in areas. It is a nice deep pink, but also a pastel colour at the same time and I think it looks amazing as the background for the wall stickers. The wall stickers are from Enchanted Interiors and are fantastic quality, re-stickable wall stickers. I used them in our old house and reviewed them and I can safely say they have transferred to the new house very well. Wouldn’t you agree they look better on the pink too?
She has her lovely Disney Princess soft dolls on her rocking chair, her christening gown hanging up on her wall and her personalised bunting hanging over her door. I just think it looks lovely in her little bedroom. Full of colour, a happy colour to suit a beautiful happy Isla Rae.
