Today we went on a 16 mile bike ride from St Neots to Grafham Water, we stopped at Grafham and had our picnic and a run in the park (a go on the slide and a few swing swings) and then we headed home again. It was a lovely 4 hours of fun in the outdoors and the kids both loved it, Daddy did too, Mummy hasn’t been on a bike for nearly 4 years and so I probably don’t have to elaborate on how I am feeling right now.
We bought the double bike buggy last weekend, but we didn’t get the opportunity to get out on it, so we have been waiting all week to find out what the weather was going to be like and sure enough it was a perfect afternoon for a bike ride in the Countryside.
Noah loves copying our words and he loves doing what Daddy does, if Daddy has a bottle of juice – Noah has one, if Daddy has a sarnie – Noah has one and so on. So Daddy always makes our picnics the same, but just gives Noah a smaller portion. We all enjoyed our cheese and pickle rolls and Skips – something tells me that Daddy and I needed it more than the little people. I so wish I could have been in the bike buggy with them!
Isla climbed up her first climbing frame today, (well that I am aware of) and she loved exploring with Noah. They went down the slide together, played on the swings together and best of all snuggled under the blankie in their rather cool double buggy.
These are some silly photos me and Isla took whilst Noah and Daddy played in the park, they make me smile:
Wow Sonia, 16 miles! That is impressive by anyone’s standards, never mind someone who hasn’t cycled for 4 years. You deserve not to be able to sit down for a week now! That is one fun packed day, and you even managed to write it all up before bed time! We are hoping to do the same tomorrow. It is 17 miles from here to Padstow along the Camel trail and the older boys are hoping to cycle it with me while Dad and the younger ones do the last 5 miles from Wadebridge. Rick Stein’s fish and chips are the plan if we make it so I have a target. Keeping up with my 14 year old is the other target! I hope our day goes as well as yours. I love the photos of you and Isla, what fun the pair of you are going to have as she grows up.
Yes WOW is what I was saying yesterday evening and this morning, getting up in the night for Isla was a little ouchy! Sounds great, we liked Padstow, Noah just wanted to nose dive off the harbour. x
That is amazing. Well done you. Looks great fun too x
That is a long bike ride! Cute picture.
