Yes, that’s right: a new way to period is here! Now I know this topic might not be the top of the conversation list. However, nearly every woman in the entire world will have a period at some point in their life. And I have a daughter who is approaching the age where she will start to experience them too! Did you know that on average 22 disposable products are used per period? Well, Wear ’em out have created these fun, sustainable and reusable, pads that are good for you and good for the planet.
I really love the Mini Flo Reusable Period Pads, they are a lightweight daily liner for those barely-there, no-drama period days. Also, perfect for bladder leaks, and non-period days when you just want to feel a little fresher! I think lots of Mother’s out there will understand exactly what I mean. I love that they are called Mini Flo too. They are £7.99, but if you consider that this will last for many years, if not longer, it works out a better option in the long term than disposable options.

You can get medium pads and mega pads too, for regular flow and heavy flow periods. All at slightly different costs. If you work out what you would need per period and ensure you buy enough up front, which I suspect is one of each, at least – you can wash them throughout your period and keep them fresh. I also really like the idea of the pouch that you can get for them too; the storage bag and wash me pouch is a great idea for if you are out for the day and need to change.

First periods
We are not quite here with Isla yet, but I know this is just around the corner for Isla. I will be educating her on good practice so she keeps clean, fresh and sustainable. These pads will be perfect for her as she can discreetly change them in school and bring home the wash bag in her school rucksack for me to wash! No noisy wrappers rustling around the cubicles. They also clip around your underwear more securely than disposables, so I won’t worry about the pad moving around whilst she is running around the playground. I wish I had these when I was younger, they are a great idea. The first period gift box is such a nice way to introduce periods to young girls; it’s self care and preparation all in one.

I received a lovely gift bundle from Wear ’em out to help promote this new product; I just love the different designs and the different sizes. I love eco-friendly products, there are so many new ideas coming to market and they all help us make better choices and importantly; help the planet. I am so glad I made the switch to reusable pads. I am definitely recommending these to family and friends, and you guys too!

For every Starter Kit bought, we donate 5% of the price paid to Champion Chanzige for the young women in Tanzania, who may have no access to period protection meaning that they may miss a week of school at a time. You can also donate a pad too; if you are not quite ready for a reusable or no longer need them yourself. No one should be denied a life during their period!

Have you considered using reusable pads for your period? I would love to know in the comments.
I dont have periods anymore but I would have certainly used these if they were around when I did!
I used to use a menstrual cup (game changer!) but would have loved some of these to use – they look so comfortable.
Been wanting to try something like this for a while, good on the purse and the environment.
I’ve finished my periods now thankfully! An early menopause put a stop to mine about 3 years ago but I would definitely have switched to these if I’d known about them
I’ve never considered reusable pads before, I’ll have to look out for them.
What a good idea these are.
I have been thinking about trying them, they are so much better for the environment
These are definitely the way forward, am seeing these everywhere
Sounds like a good idea, and something I’d not heard of before.
A great idea, these are so much kinder to the planret!
They look good, I wonder how absorbent they are compared to usual sanitary pads as in taking wetness away.
Sounds like an interesting concept. Thanks for the article.
i love reusable pads they are so much kinder to not only the environment but to your skin too! Plus saves you money which is a bonus
Great to introduce my younger neices to a sustainable way of life
I’ve never heard of these before. Thankyou for sharing definitely something i’ll be keeping an eye out for now
