Just before Christmas we took a little weekend break in Norfolk, so that we could enjoy some of our most favourite beaches and take silly photos like the above. It was great because we were staying about a 10/15 min drive from Sea Palling and a couple of minutes drive from Happisburgh beach. We had lots of options and although it was cold, we had a lovely sunny weekend too. This post is all about our Happisburgh adventures from Day 1.
Now I suppose the most noteable thing about Happisburgh beach is the lovely bright red and white lighthouse which sits at the top of the cliff, where you park your car, you can see it from the beach and it really looks fantastic. The sun shining behind the lighthouse makes for great photos, I love sunset time of day.
We had lots of fun walking up the sandy beach and seeing what pebbles and shells we could find along the way. There is a huge stretch of sand which is perfect for playing in, running and drawing names, the tide covers it when it comes in and so it is always quite moist – but not sloshy! We did a lot of exploring and we found alsorts of weird and wonderful things on the beach, including these cool groyne type things, they looked like they were there on purpose as a piece of art. The kids had fun looking through the eye holes and making themselves giggle.
There were lots of opportunities to jump, climb, run and Daddy had fun making them jump onto him from the side. It was just lovely family time and I am so glad the weather was dry and bright. Perfect for the woolly hats, warm coats and a trip to the beach.
We had a lot of fun being silly, taking fun photos and running around chasing eachother. When the sun went down it did get awfully cold, so we ran back to the car with a, at that time, very sad Isla and went back to our lovely cottage to enjoy a nice hot dinner.
whst lovely photos.
