I have been trying to read a lot more this year, I think I have read more books since January than I have in the past 5 years. I forgot how much I love to read, I could sit and read for hours when I get into a good book. I remember a few months back I had nearly finished the book and so I kept going, it was 2am before I put the book down. Today I am honoured to share an excerpt and competition to win a copy of Time School: We Will Honour Them. The new book by Nikki Young.

I have never been asked to be part of a blog tour before and I do love a challenge. Time School: We Will Honour Them is really good inspires creativity. A complete escape. The Time School series of books is about children experiencing history first hand. I would love to do that; to go back in time and be a fly on the wall. The description of the book is below:

Nadia Kaminksi knows very little about her Polish grandfather and her Polish roots, so how is she going to write a speech about him to read at his funeral?
Along with fellow time-travellers, Jess, Tomma and Ash, they find themselves on a train journey to the past.
Who is Marcel? And why does he have the same name as Nadia? Is this a chance for Nadia to find out who she really is?
It’s time to board the train for another adventure back in time.

Here is a little excerpt of the book, Chapter 6: The New Teacher –

It turned out Miss Morgan’s voice wasn’t any louder with Mr Fitzpatrick out of the room. Anarchy descended up the classroom before she’d even got halfway through the register. The other children were talking and laughing over Miss Morgan’s voice without a care.

“Can you believe this lot?” Nadia said, turning around to face her friends. “We would never get away with this. I mean look at her! She’s absolutely dying out here. I feel so sorry for her. Poor thing. And she’s so pretty as well.”

“Yeah,” Ash said, drawing out the word as he leaned forward, his chin rested on the heel of his hands. He had a faraway, dreamy look on this face. “She is pretty, isn’t she?”

“Oh, yes,” Tomma said, nodding with enthusiasm until he noticed Jess glaring at him.

Chapter 6 excerpt

This book not only taught the kids about what life was like for refugees, but also it taught me a lot too. I am really interested in history at the moment, I wish I had paid more attention at school. We have been talking about bullying at home recently too and this may help the kiddies realise how that would make people feel.

To win your very own copy of this book, all you have to do is fill out the competition entry form below:
