🧙‍♀️ Yay we finally made time to watch the new Hocus Pocus 2 movie and we absolutely loved it! It was a great way to kick off the countdown to Halloween.

It was also the perfect opportunity to road test my new mug… which I absolutely adore.

I’ve started to get the Autumn and Halloween decor out of the attic. The living room always feels full and homely at this time of year.

Two questions:

👀 Have you noticed my little visitor to the living room?

🎥 Have you watched the new movie, what did you think? 🍿

May your autumn be full of blue skies and cool walks… bobble hats and family talks.
Fresh air in your lungs and a crunch at your feet… where the working week ends and the weekends meet!

I hope you had a lovely weekend and got out in the fresh air. I needed a chilled weekend and I feel refreshed for the week ahead. I need to get a good fitness routine going which I’m hoping to start tomorrow 🍂

🍂 So it might just be time for the bobble hats to come out of hiding… anyone else live in hats during the colder months?

It’s been so nice to wrap up in layers of cosy jumpers, boots and jackets this week. I love “sweater weather” so much! If that made you laugh, then you’re my kinda people.

What is your go to Autumnal outfit? I’m in the need for inspiration 🍂

If I was a….

This took me forever to make but I loved doing it. I love being creative and I learnt to use CapCut which Isla absolutely loves. She squealed when I showed her this.

I have the template (which I might blog about as the one I followed wasn’t quite accurate) and I have a few sneaky ways of doing things!

I’ve loved seeing everyone else’s version of this and so I had to do my own! And I wouldn’t change a thing…

What would you be? 🥰

Is there anything more relaxing and calming than this view? The sun setting over the sea and the calmness in the sea too.

Made me smile looking back at my Summer photos today. I’ve had a day of “cosy” as I drank far too much last night at my friends 40th party… I danced all night and walked home with bare feet. The signs of a good night!

I’ve not been out and danced in years. I literally can’t remember the last time I did that! It was a nice break from being Mum & Dad. Letting your hair down is sometimes the best medicine from a stressful few weeks.

What do you do to unwind?

I think it’s really important to love the space where you work, for you spend a long time working in it! When designing my home office area I kept thinking about what makes me happy…

I wanted a space dedicated to my desk. After working on makeshift spaces for 2 years it felt so nice to have a dedicated work space.

I wanted to be by the garden window so I can see the flowers and watch nature about it’s business. I have seen lots of birds and a few squirrels this Spring and Summer.

I wanted the right storage too. Working from home, studying and the blog all result in lots of things I need to put away. I wanted them to have a home. I’ve got the Kallax unit from IKEA with cupboards, drawers and box storage. It’s perfect!

I’ve been doing a bit of a Autumn clean in preparation for the impending season. I love Autumn, it’s my favourite and I want to start it with a clutter free office area (and mind too).

Anyone else feel more productive if their environment is less cluttered?

Encouraging bedtime reading with In the book

Encouraging bedtime reading with In the book

Recently, with lockdowns and a lot of life changes, we have got out of routine. Somedays seem harder than others and the children's behaviour goes from brilliant to frustrated and tired quite quickly. We have explored a lot of ways to try and bring a little more routine and happiness to our days. One of my favourite changes is bringing back bedtime reading and In the book have helped us do this. Understanding children and teens this amazing book review

Understanding children and teens this amazing book review

This book, by Judy Bartkowiak, is just a perfect reflective book for 2020. During the first lockdown families had to contend with homeschooling, working full time and juggling day to day things on top. It was a very testing time for a lot of families. This book, Understanding children and teens, is a coaching tool to help you understand your children and encourage positive behaviour, despite all the stresses going on around us. VIEW the POST

An exciting new book in the Emily Knight series I am… Becoming

I love finding out about new books and authors, that are new to me, it’s a little lesson and finding out about a new person is always exciting. Isla loves reading and she has started reading, quite big books, when she is winding down in bed at the end of the day. She was excited to receive a copy of Emily Knight I am Becoming… from author Abiola Bello. This is the third book in the Emily Knight series. Isla really wants to read the other books now.

Time School: We Will Honour Them book review

Time School: We Will Honour Them book review

I have been trying to read a lot more this year, I think I have read more books since January than I have in the past 5 years. I forgot how much I love to read, I could sit and read for hours when I get into a good book. I remember a few months back I had nearly finished the book and so I kept going, it was 2am before I put the book down. Today I am honoured to share an excerpt and competition to win a copy of Time School: We Will Honour Them. The new book by Nikki Young. VIEW the POST

Hannah the Spanner and the polar bear #ChristmasBook

I love getting the kiddies a Christmas Book, every year I put a Christmas themed story book in their Christmas Eve boxes. Well, this year I have the lovely new book in the Hannah the Spanner series: Hannah the Spanner and the polar bear. It's a great bedtime story, especially the night before Christmas. As you know Isla is a little book worm so this is just perfect for her. VIEW the POST

Working Mothers: The Essential Guide – Book Review

Being a working mother I found this book very informative, its a great relief to know that I am simply not EXPECTED to have everything done and be that perfect! I am lucky that I come from a household where hubby helps out as much as me, I rarely cook and in turn I do the other things, like clean!!! I am also lucky because I have family to help me with childcare and was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to go back to work part time (instead of full time), so I can raise our son for the majority of the week. I know I am because most of my antenatal friends and friends with young children had to go back to work full-time, but this book explores lots of options for mothers and tonnes of legal information. A whole section on “childcare”, what it costs, the different options…
