Since I had the kiddies my style has changed. What once was full of high heels and platforms, is now comfortable flats and trainers. I love my trainers too, they are perfect for fun family days out. We have been on lots of adventures over the past couple of months (despite lockdown) and having the right footwear for long days of walking is essential. They go really well with my collection of fleeces too!

My trainers are Skechers. I have had the same pair for years, in that I buy the same kind over and over. The reason I get these is because of the incredible comfort I get from the memory foam sole. I absolutely couldn’t rave enough about them. They are just perfect for family days out. Because I love them so much, I want to look after them. Here are my top tips on how I get the most out of my Skechers:

Get a shoe brush?

We have a Boot Buddy at home, for the boys football boots, and actually it’s perfect for cleaning off my trainers too. After a muddy run or just general wear and tear from a week of wearing them. Keeping them clean from dirt and grime will essentially make them last longer, as the fabric is looked after, but also means you will get more use out of them. (No one wears muddy footwear!).

Spray them after use

I am possibly a bit neurotic about this but I use the Dettol Spray & Wear spray on them after I have been wearing them for the day. This spray not only kills bacteria, which at the moment is on everyones agenda, it instantly refreshes your clothes. The spray helps to keep the memory foam soles smelling delightful. It’s nice to have that fresh smell when you put your shoes on in the morning.

Have a couple of pairs

If you have some Skechers that you love, get another pair in a different colour and alternate them. This way you are not wearing out one pair constantly. I have a black pair and a grey pair. They are both perfect for running, gym or just day to day use and so I can wear either on any given day. It also means you have the choice of matching outfits a little better if need be!

When you have a pair of Skechers, or shoes that you love, it is important to look after them. I chose these particular Skechers as the mesh fabric is breathable and they are really light. When I am walking around London City with the family or on an adventure day out, they are comfortable and allow my feet to breathe.

What are your favourite trainers? I would love to know in the comments below, or on social media: @mummyconstant.

Ahh! Trainers is all I wear, I’ve had the same pair for years too. Mine are Nike air one’s and they’re so comfy. When I replace them I will be buying the same again. x
