To celebrate Independence Day in the UK, I couldn’t think of a better way than to celebrate with the USA’s famous SKIPPY®Peanut Butter. We made an American themed lunch and incorporated it into our homeschooling. We have some good friends from America and we love discussing the different holidays celebrated in the USA and UK. We made our very own #SKIPPY4July.

Making your own #SKIPPY4July Independence day lunchtime feast

I used my Peanut Butter and Jam surprise cupcake recipe, I adapted it by adding chocolate icing on top and then sprinkled blitzed peanut on the top. They are yummy and the chocolate and jam really works. The kiddies loved them. The whole family can enjoy the delicious taste and versatility of the ultimate American-style Extra Crunchy SKIPPY® Peanut Butter, which is now widely available in the UK and a great source of protein for growing kids. Every jar includes more than 90% sweet American Peanuts. Yummy! I teamed the cupcakes and sandwiches with crisps and popcorn and we really enjoyed our feast.

I also made the famous Peanut Butter and Jam sandwiches. The kids loved them! There’s something satisfying about eating Peanut Butter and Jam in a sandwich. The SKIPPY® Brand Extra Crunchy Peanut Butter is amazing in a sarnie as it brings a real crunch. The kids call it a PB&J, they pick these cool sayings up from YouTube. They are definitely more cultured than I was at their age.

Independence Day 4th July

We learnt that the American’s celebrate the 4th July as in 1776, congress declared that the 13 American colonies (also know as british colonies) were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain, King George III. They were now united and free, independent states. I find it really interesting that America grew from 13 colonies to 50 states that we know of today. We’ve really enjoyed learning about it in our homeschooling history lessons.
