Unsure of where to start? Read on for some combination skin care tips.

Say no to soaps

Washing your face, even with a gentle soap can seem like a healthy start to any skincare routine, but your combination skin might disagree with you. Why? Most soaps dry skin quite considerably, making your skin, drier, tighter and generally irritate skin problems. Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you can’t wash your face ever again, just opt for gentle cleanser that suits your skin type instead or even make your own home made cleanser using honey and even milk.

Follow the golden rule

In this case, the golden rule is to follow a CTM routine. And by that we mean: cleanse, tone and moisturise. This regimen is ideal for those with combination skin as it covers all the bases, evens out your skin tone and gives you a much better platform for makeup application.

Use a cleanser

Try to get into the habit of taking off your makeup as soon as you come home with a gentle cleanser, do not leave your makeup on your face overnight. You’re only going to make your skin worse. It might be a pain, but once you get into a routine, it’ll become second nature.

Don’t forget your toner

As mentioned above, using a toner is a great way to keep your combination skin in check. Not only will the toner remove the last traces of your cleanser but also shrink your pores it’s a win, win for your skin!

Moisturise!

Opt for a gel based moisturiser and apply every time you follow the CTM rule. This kind of moisturiser will soften the dry areas of your face and mattify the oily areas. Magic!

Exfoliate

If you want to get rid of white heads, black heads and all those dead skin cells that are accumulating on your face then exfoliation is the key. Exfoliating will get the blood pumping around your face and buff your skin nicely. When you exfoliate, you’re opening up your pores and allowing your skin to breathe – in doing so, it can absorb all the nutrients and vitamins from your moisturiser and even night cream.

Don’t touch your face

I bet you’ve done it several times without noticing while you’ve been reading this! Touching your face means you’re transferring germs and dirt onto your skin, which won’t help your complexion. The same applies for spots – no squeezing! You’ll just fill your pores with more dirt!
