Now who says that you cannot have a magical Great British family holiday? We certainly did this summer, and do in most locations that we visit. But, I have to admit that we did really love this holiday in particular: the superb quality of the holiday accomodation, it’s absolutely stunning location and the weather made it a completely fabulous holiday. Holidays for me are all about the memories and when I look back on the photos and videos it fills me with such warm feelings – that is what family holidays are all about.
We spent a lot of time exploring the coastline around Swanage, there are so many fabulous beaches and many are National Trust owned too and had great facilities. We were approximately 15 minutes drive from Corfe Castle and we had a fun afternoon of dressing up as knights, learning about the fastest bird in the Country and soaking up the history of the old castle. Noah didn’t like the bad King that lived there and said he would put him in the dungeon! From all directions of the castle you could see for miles, the views were amazing.
There are two videos on my YouTube channel that show of the accommodation, The old barn, from Sykes Cottages and also the area in which we stayed. The barn was so luxurious and that it accepted pets amazed me. Usually holiday cottages that accept pets are not of that caliber, but this barn is. The place was spotless, no marks or scents and we left it how we found it. Everyone knows it is the children that are more likely to wreck the place than the pets anyway!
Here are some more of my favourite photos of our time in Dorset, thanks to Sykes Cottages. I would definitely recommend using them for your next holiday booking! I hope you enjoy watching the videos and smile at our holiday snapshots, as much as I do. The photos of the hills are a step outside the barn, fabulous views and the great outdoors were literally just outside the door. It was a 10 minute drive to the coast at Swanage and not far to the National Trust beaches – a perfect location! The hills made for a good seat to sit out and watch the huge thunderstorm that we had too. We really didn’t want to come home…
