Nobody would have imagined weโd still be dealing with social distancing and lockdowns now when the coronavirus first entered our lives. But while we wait for vaccines and things to improve, meeting up with many of our friends and family and travel plans are on hold.ย While you might not be able to physically meet with your friends and family, there are plenty of ways of keeping in touch with them and show them that you care.ย
Here are some suggestions for keeping in touch with your faraway friends.
Video call them
If it wasnโt for video calling, many people wouldnโt have seen their loved oneโs faces at all this year. While some people are feeling video call fatigue, itโs still a great way to get in touch with your friends and family, especially if itโs been a while since youโve caught up.
Replace your usual coffee catch ups with a coffee in front of your laptop or other device instead. Itโs a wonderful way to enjoy some time with somebody, even if you canโt give them a hug right now.
Write to them
Thereโs still something pretty special about receiving a letter in the post. So why not make someoneโs day by sending them a letter, especially if they live far away? You could make your own custom stationery as a fun lockdown project, sending some beautiful personalised stationery to your loved ones. You could also include some photos to show what youโve been up to recently! I love this beautiful set from Pen Heaven, it is elegant and stylish. Perfect for sending a hand written note to a faraway friend this Winter.

Send them a gift to show that youโre thinking of them
The pandemic is affecting people in different ways, and some people might be feeling anxious or lonely as a result of their normal routines being affected. A nice gift to show someone that youโre thinking of them is a wonderful gesture, and could easily brighten someoneโs day. Check out some international flower delivery services for a simple but effective gift idea. It doesnโt have to be a large or expensive gesture, but the fact that youโve sent something so thoughtful will really make someoneโs day.
Play games
Itโs going to be a long winter, with a lot of nights in on the cards. When youโve exhausted Netflix or you fancy a change, why not play some games online with some loved ones? You could try online versions of your favourite board games or try some others via your phone. If you have a games console, you could also play games on there too and chat with your friends at the same time.
Keeping in touch with your loved ones is important while you canโt physically see them. It can lift your spirits, as well as theirs – supporting each other is important. While you should make the most of outdoor adventures to get some exercise and fresh air for your health, some nights in catching up with your favourites is another great way to spend your time in lockdown.
