A little Halloween magic: Spooky stationery, Harry Potter and autumn fun
Gifted products – Pen Heaven kindly sent us a selection of stationery to feature in this article. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There is something about Halloween that brings out my creative side. Perhaps it’s the darker evenings, pumpkins appearing on doorsteps or the excuse to get cosy with a spooky film and some sweet treats. Whatever it is, I absolutely love this time of year!
Halloween isn’t just about dressing up and trick-or-treating, though. It’s about having fun, making memories and embracing a little bit of magic. And, as someone who loves a gorgeous notebook and a good stationery collection, I think it’s the perfect excuse to get creative.
This year, Pen Heaven sent us some lovely Halloween stationery goodies, including a magical Harry Potter Moleskine notebook and pen set, along with some adorable Legami treats. They fit rather perfectly with our Halloween celebrations!
Bringing a little Hogwarts magic to Halloween
Is there anything more magical than the world of Harry Potter at this time of year?
With its floating candles, mysterious corridors, pumpkins and spells, Hogwarts always gives me those wonderfully cosy autumn feelings. It makes me want to curl up under a blanket, light a candle and lose myself in a magical story.
The Moleskine Harry Potter Spells Collection – Lumos from Pen Heaven captures that feeling beautifully.

The set features a gorgeous dark notebook decorated with a wand, stars and the spell Lumos. The artwork includes glow-in-the-dark details, which makes it even more fitting for Halloween.
One of my favourite details is the beautiful quote on the cover, reminding us that happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if we remember to turn on the light. It’s such a lovely sentiment and one that feels particularly special as the evenings draw in.
Inside, the notebook has 176 ruled pages, quality 100gsm paper, an expandable inner pocket and themed stickers. It also comes with a refillable Kaweco rollerball pen with black ink, making it a rather lovely stationery gift.
I love the idea of using this notebook to capture autumn memories, write stories, keep track of seasonal adventures or simply jot down thoughts and ideas. You could even turn it into your very own book of spells, filling the pages with imaginative potions, magical creatures and Halloween-inspired doodles.
For Harry Potter fans, it’s a wonderful way to bring a little Hogwarts magic into everyday life.
Cute, colourful and a little bit spooky with Legami
Halloween doesn’t always have to be frightening. Sometimes it can be ridiculously cute, too!
If you love stationery with personality, you’ll probably already know about Legami. Their playful designs are brilliant for making everyday writing, planning and schoolwork feel a little more exciting.

The first of our Halloween goodies is the Legami Kawaii Halloween Edition panda pencil case, and honestly, how adorable is it?
With its little panda ears, bright red bow tie and tiny skull-shaped bamboo accessory, it’s a brilliant combination of spooky and sweet. The zip-up design makes it practical for storing pens and pencils, while the Halloween theme gives it a fun seasonal twist.
The packaging also highlights a glow-in-the-dark feature, which makes it even more playful.

Then there’s the Legami Spooky Party Collection erasable pen, which comes presented in a purple coffin-shaped box. I absolutely love the packaging! It feels like a little Halloween surprise, complete with a mystery design and glow-in-the-dark theme.
These are the sorts of stationery treats that make you want to sit down and create something. Whether it’s writing Halloween shopping lists, designing spooky invitations or doodling little ghosts and pumpkins, they add a bit of fun to ordinary activities.
And let’s face it, you can never have too many cute pens!
They would also make lovely little Halloween gifts, particularly if you’re looking for something different from the usual sweets and chocolates.
Five fun ways to get creative this Halloween
You don’t need an elaborate party or expensive decorations to enjoy Halloween. Sometimes the simplest activities are the ones that make the loveliest memories.
Here are five ways to use your favourite Halloween stationery to get into the spooky spirit.
1. Write your own spooky story
Grab a notebook, choose a mysterious setting and see where your imagination takes you.
Perhaps there’s a haunted cottage hidden in the woods, a magical creature living at the bottom of the garden or a secret passageway leading to another world.
It’s a lovely activity for children and teenagers, especially on a rainy afternoon during half term. And a magical Harry Potter notebook makes the whole experience even more exciting.
2. Make a Halloween bucket list
I love a seasonal bucket list! Fill a page with everything you’d like to do before autumn disappears.
Pumpkin carving, watching Halloween films, baking spooky treats, taking woodland walks and visiting somewhere new are all good places to start.
Tick them off as you go and you’ve got a lovely little record of your autumn adventures.
If you’re anything like me and love making lists, you might also enjoy my top tips for making that perfect list.
3. Design your own Halloween invitations
Whether you’re planning a party or just having a few friends over for a Halloween film night, handmade invitations add a personal touch.
Think orange and black lettering, tiny ghosts, cobwebs and perhaps a few magical spells for good measure.
You could even create little place cards for a Halloween-themed dinner or design your own spooky menu.

4. Create a magical autumn journal
Turn your notebook into a place for autumn memories.
You could include photographs, drawings, pressed leaves, favourite quotes and little snippets about your adventures. It’s a lovely way to slow down and appreciate the season, especially when life feels busy.
I think autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year for getting outside with the camera, enjoying the changing colours and making memories.
I’ve shared some of my favourite ways of getting ready for autumn before, and a seasonal journal would be a lovely addition to those little traditions.
5. Plan a cosy Halloween evening
Not every Halloween celebration needs to be scary! Sometimes a cosy evening at home is exactly what you need.
Make a list of your favourite Halloween films, choose some treats, get the blankets ready and settle in for a little seasonal magic.
You could even make your own Halloween film rating chart, giving each film a score for scariness, laughs and overall spooky atmosphere.
It’s a fun way to make an ordinary evening feel like a little event.
Why I love the little traditions of Halloween
One of my favourite things about Halloween is how it changes as the children grow up.
When Noah and Isla were little, it was all about dressing up, making decorations and enjoying the excitement of trick-or-treating. I still love looking back at those photographs and remembering all the fun we had.
From tiny pumpkin outfits to increasingly elaborate costumes, those Halloween memories are some of my favourites.
Now that they’re older, Halloween looks a little different, but there are still so many ways to enjoy it together. Whether we’re watching something spooky, enjoying a day out or simply having a cosy evening at home, it’s those moments that matter.
And I think that’s why I love this season so much. It encourages us to make time for a bit of fun, creativity and togetherness.
I also love that Halloween falls during one of my favourite times of year. The autumn colours, crisp mornings, cosy jumpers and darker evenings all seem to create the perfect atmosphere for a little seasonal magic.
