It’s no secret that bras are important. If you’ve ever had an ill-fitting bra, then you know exactly how irritating it can be. If it doesn’t provide enough support, then you may develop posture problems and back pain. On the other hand, a bra that’s too tight will cause other problems. It can dig into your shoulders, back, and bust, which is very uncomfortable. Believe it or not, you shouldn’t be left with clear indentations in your skin whenever you remove your bra. Finding the right bra is essential!

You can even develop skin problems from an ill-fitting bra, as well as tension headaches and other problems. True, you might be able to just ignore the discomfort of an ill-fitting bra, but you’d be surprised at how much more comfortable you can be with just a small change.

As Your Body Changes

Your bra size will change throughout your lifetime, which is one of the main reasons many women end up wearing poorly fitting bras. If you only buy the same size as last time without measuring your bra size, then you’re sure to end up with a bra that doesn’t fit comfortably.

If you gain weight, then your back and cup size will likely increase. As you lose weight, you might find that your bra size decreases. Sometimes only your back will decrease. Young women may notice that their bra size continues to grow steadily into their twenties, and pregnancy is known to cause an increase in breast size.

As you get older, you will need more support. Your body will continue to change as well, so your bra size might still change even if you haven’t lost or gained weight. Regularly measuring your bra size is the only way you can ensure that you always have a well-fitting bra.

Unfortunately, bras also have a lifespan. Once you notice your bras starting to sag and becoming less comfortable, it’s likely time to find some new favorite wireless bras.

The Right Style

Fit isn’t the only thing that matters when it comes to finding a bra that works for you. Different women have different preferences of bra styles, and it depends on what you find comfortable and what suits you. If you need more support, then you might need a bra with a lot of structure. However, you might also find that underwired bras irritate your skin or dig in, so you might have to shop around to find something that works for you.

Different bra styles do work better with different outfits, however. For example, you might want a bra that provides a smooth silhouette for one outfit, while you might prefer something that provides some lift at another time.

If you’re working out, then you’ll need something that provides plenty of support but that doesn’t irritate your skin or restrict your movement. A sports bra is often a good option, as it supports your chest without being too tight, allowing you to work out without worrying about it.
