I love getting the kiddies a Christmas Book, every year I put a Christmas themed story book in their Christmas Eve boxes. Well, this year I have the lovely new book in the Hannah the Spanner series: Hannah the Spanner and the polar bear. It’s a great bedtime story, especially the night before Christmas. As you know Isla is a little book worm so this is just perfect for her.

Hannah the Spanner series

This series of fabulous stories, are aimed at children 4 – 9 years old. They are perfect for Isla. Written by Stuart Simmonds, who based the books on his daughters name and are super funny and witty (they even entertain the grown ups).

Each book follows a different adventure of Hannah and the dreadful Aubrey (he is an annoying boy with far too much wind!).

  • Hannah The Spanner and the Dancing Bear
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Robot
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Circus
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Trip to the Moon
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Diamond Robbery
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Racing Car
  • Hannah The Spanner and the Polar Bear (NEW FOR 2019)

Hannah the Spanner and the polar bear

This new story, for 2019, is an adventure following Hannah and her friends as they put up with grumpy parents, sick reindeers and something strange happening in the back garden. All of this leads them to the professor and finding a lost polar bear, oh and not forgetting to help out a big chubby man in a red suit to save Christmas! We loved this story and all of the fabulous illustrations.

Hannah The Spanner and the Dancing Bear

What do you do, normally, on a Monday evening? For us it’s homework, dinner, bath and storytime. For Hannah, it’s all about trampolines, ponds and garden sheds. Oh, and a bear who loves to dance and eat cake. They go on an adventure and find a grumpy zoo keeper with a very special nose. A great story for sparking amazing dreams at bedtime.

Hannah The Spanner and the Robot

So, it’s Tuesday evening (I sense a theme here) and Hannah the Spanner is on another fabulous adventure before bedtime. This time involving a robot with no shoes, naughty Aubrey and they go off trick or treating. It’s a great story of wrongs being righted, if that’s the right saying, and a grumpy Dad who couldn’t fix the internet (sounds like home).

Hannah The Spanner and the Circus

This is a fabulous story with equally fabulous illustrations. On a school trip to the circus, Hannah the Spanner has an adventure to remember. Even the teachers were over excited. We loved the quiet little elephant, Trunky, so cute. Lots of acrobatics, strong men and of course; custard pies.

Hannah The Spanner and the Trip to the Moon

This is another fun adventure, this time set in outer space. Hannah and her school friends are shot into outer space and they get to meet the Moonians (special little three-eyed creatures) when they land on the surface of the moon. They teach the Moonians a new game and have lots of fun. Such a funny story that Isla just loved.

Hannah The Spanner and the Diamond Robbery

This story is based in the National History Museum, when Hannah the Spanner and her school friends are on a school trip. Naughty bank robbers give this story a great feeling of suspense throughout – perfect for keeping your little ones engaged. Not an average school trip to London for Hannah the Spanner.

Hannah The Spanner and the Racing Car

This one is one of Noah’s favourites, he thought this was really funny. Noah and Isla pretended they were the characters in the story having a super race, around a thrilling race track. I love the names of the racing drivers – that made me smile. They meet a cute little cat on their adventures and will Hannah the Spanner get in trouble for going down the track of doom?

Do you have a favourite book series for the kiddies? I would love to know in the comments below or on social media. We were sent these books in exchange for our review, all opinions and photographs are my own.
