If you are looking for a family holiday with a difference, I am hoping to offer a few alternatives to the traditional package holiday, which can become monotonous after a few years. A family holiday should be a time to spend some quality time together, plus it should be an all-inclusive package that allows all the family to engage in their favourite activities. So here are my family travel ideas for 2020:

Here are a few great family holiday ideas for you to consider in 2020.

  • Take A Motorhome Holiday – If you love the idea of total independence, book a motorhome and explore some of the amazing Australian outback, and with everything you could possibly need on your state-of-the-art motorhome, you can enjoy a level of comfort that is not normally associated with camping holidays. You could plan the ideal route, or simply head off to places unknown, and as Australia is such a huge expanse, you are spoilt for choice regarding destinations. Of course, living in a motorhome for a couple of weeks does require that your kids take on some responsibilities, as camping is best experienced when everyone pitches in.
  • Book A Family Cruise – Cruise holidays were once the exclusive domain of the rich and elderly, yet things have changed in the past decade, and there are now cruises that are specifically designed for families of all ages. You can search online to find the best cruise deals from Sydney offered by established cruise operators, and with an extensive list that ranges from a 3-day cruise around Sydney to a 3-month epic round-the-world cruise. One thing you won’t have to worry about when on a cruise is kids getting bored, as there are so many things to do onboard a modern cruise liner. If your children don’t sound very enthusiastic about a cruise holiday, there are articles that you can read that highlight how cruise holiday have become geared up for families.

  • Luxury Resorts – While it might be a little on the expensive side, booking the family in at a luxury resort really does give you everything you could possibly want under one roof. There are resorts that are designed for families, with all kinds of activities for the kids, and with several luxurious pool areas, you can relax with your favourite cocktail and never worry about what the kids are doing. This is probably the most expensive kind of holiday in this list, as you would have flights and accommodation, yet if you choose the right resort, you and your family will have a holiday to be remembered for all the right reasons.

Cruise ships are totally geared up for families of all ages, and this is perhaps the only family holiday when you don’t have to compromise on anything. The kids will have a ball, plus you and your partner can take a well-earned break indulging in your favourite activities, and with so much to do, there’s never a dull moment when you book a luxury family cruise.

What is your favourite type of family holiday? I would love to know in the comments below.
