We recently took a visit to Newmarket Races as a family, it was a Saturday afternoon and we didn’t really know what to expect. Basically, the Summer Saturdays events are solely to entertain the little ones whilst the grown ups await to see whose won the races. The family enclosure is kitted out to a particular theme each Summer Saturday, the theme was “Sports Day” when we went.

Newmarket Races is split into different areas and the family enclosure is based at the Adnams July Course. It is really easy to find as it is the furthest left, if you are facing the race course and has it own entrance area too. The family enclosure has facilities like nice toilets, bar, fast food counters, sweets and a fantastic park area that they have recently done up.

Sports Day was basically full of extra fun things to do like cycling, football with Cambridge United, inflatables, face painting and Olympic sports courses. The children loved it and the Cambridge United staff were really friendly, which really helped as the kids had such a great time.

Saturday 22nd July – Great British Summer Day.

This sounds amazing: donkey rides, swingboats, a traditional toy town carousel and inflatables, face painting, Punch and Judy and, of course, giant deck chairs.

Saturday 29th July – Countryside Day.

Itโ€™s a delightful raceday featuring fantastic sport on the track plus pony rides, a mini farm, a petting zoo, ferret racing and a sheep dog and ducks display!

Saturday 5th August – Great British Picnic.

Weโ€™ve got appearances at intervals from Paddington Bear, face painting, inflatables, pedal go karts and a brilliant giant balloon show.

Saturday 12th August – Royal British Legion Day.

This yearโ€™s Royal British Legion Day will have a VE Day theme and weโ€™re encouraging all racegoers to dress up in their most authentic outfits to get into the spirit of the day! There will be music from the Leiston Brass Band and, of course, the iconic march of the British Legion Band up the racecourse before the first race. Weโ€™ll also have swingboats, a toy town carousel, face painting and a craft workshop.

Saturday 19th August – Horseplay.

โ€˜Horseplayโ€™ is a brilliant raceday which focuses on the magnificent horse and offers you the opportunity to get even more of insight into our fantastic sport. WOCKET WOY AND THE PWODUCER will be joining us throughout the day for lots of fun and frolics, including Meet and Gweets, and we will have the โ€˜Horseplay Roadshowโ€™, pony rides, inflatables and face painting.

Friday 25th August – Feel good Friday.

Feel Good Friday is like no other race day youโ€™ve been to! Itโ€™s exactly what it says on the tin, a day dedicated to making you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Weโ€™ll have lots of FREE fun activities including unicorn rides, a petting zoo, sumo wrestling, zorbing, face painting and more!
