What do you do with all that left over batter mix? You have your pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, but what do you do with the leftovers? It’s no secret that I am huge pancake and Yorkshire pudding fan and I was so delighted to be sent the Mermaid Yorkshire Pudding Pan to review. And yes, we baked a yummy toad in the hole on Wednesday, which was gorgeous.
The the Pan is designed to ensure even heat distribution, preventing unwanted hot spots in the metal and therefore making it perfect for cooking crispy and light Yorkshire puddings. The 34 cm pan is made from hard anodised aluminium, so that it never peels or blisters, you can use metal utensils with it and it is scratch resistant. I can confirm that the Yorkshire pudding was indeed perfectly crispy and light, it was a much better pudding than we have made before and I can only suggest it is because of this fantastic piece of bakeware.
I would not be without this pudding pan now, the aftermath was even ridiculously easy to clean and wash up. Whereas I am usually scrubbing the pan for ages, soaking it and taking a lot of effort to make sure it is clean after use – this Mermaid pan was the opposite. Not only did it clean with hardly any elbow grease, there wasn’t much to clean in the first place, as it all came up when we served the dinner.
You can see other fantastic Mermaid products on their website: http://www.mermaidcookware.com/, I might even have a go at their product of the month “Pudding Basin” – I love steamed puddings.
