Life gets busy and you may not always make your needs a priority. However, over time this can be detrimental to your health and well-being. I am experiencing this now as I am overweight, feel meh and struggling to find any time as I am exhausted at the end of the day. I know I must put self-care at the top of my to-do list. Losing weight and getting fit isn’t always easy but it is doable with the right approach. These are some of the ways I am going to start to get into better shape.

Create Fitness Goals

You must begin by coming up with a plan for getting into better shape. This entails creating and setting realistic fitness goals for yourself. Write down a list of goals and review it often to keep these top of mind for you. For example, it may be that you want to start working out five days per week or incorporate more weight lifting into your workout routine. Track your progress so that you know how you’re doing. For instance, you may want to get in the habit of weighing yourself once per week to know if you’re making progress.

Exercise Daily

If you want to get into better shape then you must commit to moving more and getting daily exercise. If you have a sedentary job where you sit a lot then you may want to look into investing in a walking pad for your desk area. This way you can stay productive as you burn calories. You may also want to join a gym or set up a home gym that you can use to help keep yourself motivated to exercise. There are many physical as well as mental health benefits that come with making exercise a part of your daily routine.

Identify an Accountability Partner

Sometimes all you may need is a little motivation to work out. In this case, consider identifying an accountability partner or workout buddy. For example, it can be a close friend or your spouse. Choose someone who has similar fitness levels and goals. It’s a great way to stick with your exercise routine, especially on the days you don’t feel like working out. You two can encourage one another to get and stay fit throughout the year. It’ll be helpful to have someone on your side who is also in the process of working on a body transformation.

Keep A Food Journal

It’s not just about exercising if you want to get into better shape. You also need to pay attention to the foods you’re eating and your diet. It may be useful to start cooking for yourself more at home so you have control over the ingredients and portion sizes. You can hold yourself more accountable for your diet by keeping a food journal. Write down everything you eat in a day from meals to snacks and drinks. It’s a great way to identify problem areas and changes that you can make to what you are choosing to eat.

It is possible to get into better shape by making a few changes to your daily habits. These ideas will help get you started on the right path. Stick with them and it won’t be long before you notice your clothes fit better and you are stronger and more flexible.
