If there are any parents out there, like me, thinking there is only 6 weeks until the Summer Holidays. It is essential to plan your time. Especially if you are needing to take annual leave and book kids clubs. It is really tricky to plan quite so far in advance, you can never guarantee the weather is going to be perfect. Here are some fun activities you can do spare of the moment, any day of the holidays.
Read a book in the sunshine
I am really trying to encourage the children to read more. Not just their homework and school books, which we have to do 3 times a week. But reading other books. I have been buying them long stories, that will take a few weeks to read (if they read it bit by bit). I love the David Walliams books and so does Noah. Isla is reading The Bolds from Julian Clary at the moment and she thinks its hilarious, especially as the Mum collects the children from school with knickers on her head!
Play dress up
This is a must do activity in our house. We have a special dress up box that has lots of different outfits. Their favourite at the moment is Shimmer and Shine costume and Flash costume from Vegaoo. It’s amazing how much time can pass when they are having fun in their costumes, they play for ages in their characters. Isla pretends she is a genie and Noah is obviously a great super hero. They spend most of the time in dress up costumes.
Go out for a picnic
There is nothing better than grabbing some sandwiches, crisps and a delicious cake. Throwing it in to a picnic basket and wondering off somewhere together. We do this when we go out for walks, bike rides or a day trip to the beach Which are all great activities to do at the spare of the moment. I love going on a picnic, it’s such a cute English thing to do.
Do some Summer crafting
This is Isla’s favourite activity and you can do it whenever, wherever. We go out and collect nature from our local park: leaves, twigs and stones. We make stickmen with the twigs, use the leaves to create images and we paint the stones. It is really fun as they are excited about using things they have collected themselves. I love the fact you can get out in the fresh air too, they are having fun whilst exercising! There is nothing better than Summer crafting.
Have fun with inflatables!
This Thumbs Up Roller Wheel is such a cool idea. It really does get the thumbs up from us! It takes about 15 minutes to blow up with a foot pump (from scratch) and about 5 minutes to top up each day. The kids love it. They roll around the garden for hours, giggling. It’s amazing what a fun wheel can do. This will give the kids endless hours of laughter in the Summer Holidays.
