Most teenagers go through a phase where they’re trying to figure out who they are and what they want to look like. It can be a tough time for both them and you, but there are things you can do to help your teenager find their identity and develop their own personal style. We have all of this to come with Noah and Isla, we are one year away from having teens in the house. I hope this advice can help your teen and mine when I get to that point.

Here are some tips:
Encourage them to experiment with different styles.
It’s important that your teen feels like they have the freedom to experiment with different styles and looks. This is how they’ll figure out what works for them and what doesn’t. So don’t be afraid to let them try new things, even if it means making some mistakes along the way. Try to remind them that their accessories are also a part of who they are, and how they can express themselves. Whether this is using gold earrings from Kendra Scott or neon green spiked necklaces, the choice is theirs and theirs alone.
Help them find role models with great style.
One way to help your teen develop their own sense of style is to point them toward others who have great style. These could be celebrities, fashion bloggers, or even people they know in real life. Seeing how others put together outfits can give your teen some inspiration for their own looks.
Take them shopping and let them choose their own clothes.
Another way to help your teenager find their style is to take them shopping and let them pick out their own clothes. This will give them a chance to try on different items and see what looks good on them. It’s also a great opportunity for you to bond with your teen and get to know their taste in clothing.
Be patient and supportive.
Finding one’s personal style can be a long and difficult process, so it’s important to be patient and supportive throughout the journey. Remember that everyone goes through this phase at some point in their life, so try to enjoy it as much as you can. After all, it won’t be long until your teen is an adult with their own unique sense of style.
Offer to help them build their wardrobe.
If your teen is having trouble finding their style, offer to help them build their wardrobe. This can be a great way to bond with your teen and also ensure that they have the clothing they need to experiment with different looks. If you’re not sure where to start, take them shopping or look at The Sweater Shop in their 2022 Aran Sweater Guide together for some inspiration.
Don’t be afraid to offer your own opinion.
Even though it’s important to let your teen find their own style, that doesn’t mean you can’t offer your opinion on what looks good or not. If you have helpful suggestions, feel free to share them with your teen. They may not always take your advice, but it could help them in the long run.
Encourage them to be themselves.
At the end of the day, it’s most important that your teen feels comfortable in their own skin. So encourage them to be themselves and not try to imitate someone else’s style. If they’re truly comfortable with their own look, it will shine through, and they’ll be much happier.
Remind them that their style will change over time.
Finally, it’s important to remind your teen that their sense of style will likely change over time. They may not dress the same way in 10 years as they do now, and that’s okay. The most important thing is that they’re comfortable with who they are and how they look.
