I am getting very excited about our upcoming trip to Turkey with TUI, it is our first time trying a TUI BLUE hotel too. We really did love Turkey the last time we visited, but that was 10 years ago, and we cannot wait to show the kiddies around some of the places we visited back then. I have such fond memories of the excursions we did, but the kids do not and so I have been looking to see what trips we can do.

Sarigerme, a hidden gem on Turkey’s southwestern coast, is a fantastic destination for families seeking both relaxation and adventure. With its stunning beaches, rich history, and natural beauty, it’s the perfect base for exploring the region. If you’re staying in Sarigerme with TUI, there’s so much choice of family-friendly excursions that will make your holiday even more memorable.

Dalyan River Cruise and Mud Baths

A day out on the Dalyan River is a must for families. This excursion offers a blend of fun and education, perfect for all ages. You’ll start with a leisurely boat trip along the river, with stunning views of the Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs. The highlight for the kids (and adults alike) is the chance to cover themselves in the famous Dalyan mud baths, which are said to have healing properties. After rinsing off in the thermal springs, you’ll feel rejuvenated and ready to relax on the nearby Iztuzu Beach, a nesting ground for the endangered loggerhead turtles.

Jeep Safari

For a bit of adventure, the Jeep Safari is an exhilarating way to explore the rugged countryside around Sarigerme. You’ll drive through pine forests, splash through streams, and discover hidden waterfalls, with plenty of stops for swimming and photos. It’s a great way for the kids to experience the natural beauty of the area while having a lot of fun. The day is rounded off with a traditional Turkish lunch, giving everyone a taste of local cuisine.

12 Islands Boat Trip

Sailing around the 12 islands of Fethiye Bay is a wonderful day out for families. This excursion takes you on a traditional Turkish gulet, where you can enjoy the crystal-clear waters and dramatic coastlines. The boat stops at several islands and secluded bays, perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and soaking up the sun. The crew often provide snorkelling gear, so it’s a great way to introduce the kids to the underwater world. A delicious onboard lunch is also included, making it a relaxing and enjoyable day for everyone.

Visit to Ancient Ephesus

For families with older children or history enthusiasts, a trip to the ancient city of Ephesus is a fascinating journey back in time. One of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world, Ephesus was once a thriving metropolis of the Roman Empire. As you wander through the marble streets, you can explore landmarks like the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, and the Temple of Artemis. It’s a day full of stories and discoveries that will captivate young minds and spark imaginations.

Sultaniye Thermal Springs and Caunos

Combine relaxation and history with a trip to the Sultaniye Thermal Springs and the ancient city of Caunos. The springs are located by Lake Köyceğiz, where you can enjoy a soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Afterwards, a short boat ride takes you to the ruins of Caunos, an ancient city with a history dating back to the 9th century BC. The amphitheatre and acropolis are highlights, offering a glimpse into the region’s rich past.

Sarsala Bay and Gocek Market

For a more laid-back day, a visit to Sarsala Bay and the Gocek Market is ideal. Sarsala Bay is a picturesque spot with calm, turquoise waters and a sandy beach, perfect for families with younger children. After some time spent swimming and sunbathing, head to the nearby town of Gocek, known for its marina and lively market. Here, you can browse stalls selling local crafts, spices, and textiles – a great place to pick up souvenirs. The market also offers plenty of tasty street food options for a casual lunch.

Horse Riding through the Countryside

Explore the beautiful Turkish countryside on horseback with a guided family-friendly tour. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a complete beginner, this excursion is suitable for all ages and skill levels. The trail takes you through fragrant pine forests, open meadows, and along quiet country lanes, offering stunning views of the mountains and coast. For children, it’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn a new skill, while parents can enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings.

Pamukkale and Hierapolis

A visit to the natural wonder of Pamukkale and the ancient city of Hierapolis is an unforgettable experience. Pamukkale, known as the “Cotton Castle”, is famous for its white travertine terraces formed by mineral-rich thermal waters. Kids will love walking barefoot through the warm, shallow pools, which feel like something out of a fairy tale. Just above the terraces, explore the ruins of Hierapolis, including its impressive theatre and ancient baths. It’s a long day but one that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue.

Sarigerme is more than just a beach destination – it’s a gateway to some of Turkey’s most exciting family-friendly excursions. I love that TUI tag some of the trips with Green and Fairer experiences, they have thought about making the experiences fun and sustainable, and a great price! Whether you’re exploring ancient ruins, soaking in thermal springs, or sailing the turquoise waters, there’s something for every family member to enjoy. With TUI offering a range of well-organised trips, it is clear we are going to make some amazing family memories on holiday. Now, which ones are we going to choose?
