As a parent, it’s always important to remember that you are a person still! It can be easy to forget all the things you used to do before you had your children, and it’s important to go back to these things every once in a while to give you a much needed break from the hard work that raising children can be! This is something I learnt the hard way this year and made some big decisions on getting some me time.
Here are some good ideas to enjoy some spare time that you have to yourself:
Go Biking or Hiking!
This is an excellent thing to do if you like experiencing the great outdoors! If you already have a bike then you don’t need to hire one out, and you don’t need to buy or rent anything to go hiking! It’s a fantastically easy way to get out of the house, it requires minimum effort and planning and so it can be done with ease. It also hardly costs anything, if you have the equipment then it’s free! The great part about either of these two is that you can do it anywhere you want to such as places like Kingsbury Water Park, you’re not confined to where and when you can do it, so you can take spontaneous trips!
Have A Get Together!
This is a brilliant excuse to see all your friends and family! If the kids are away at a sleepover or on a school trip, you can invite all of your nearest and dearest around for a bit of a party. These get togethers tend not to happen so often so take full advantage of the opportunity if it presents itself! Get some barbeque food, you could buy alcohol online to save you the hassle of going out and getting in a shop, spruce up the party a bit! This is always a good way to get connected with your friends again, and who knows, you may run into an old friend you haven’t seen it years!
Retail therapy is a brilliant way to have a bit of a break, and get some new stuff at the same time! Everyone loves a shopping trip every once a while, it’s good to get out and have fun. The good bit about this is that you can take everyone in your family along with you, meaning that it can be relaxing for everyone whilst allowing you to have a bit of time to yourself, so treat yourself! You could go to place like the Bullring as they have a wide range of shops to satisfy all of your families needs and interests!
Hopefully these tips enable you to have better time to yourself to clear your mind when things just get a little too stressful, everyone gets overwhelmed from time to time so it’s important to know how to relax and get back to yourself when it happens!
