Something that has stuck with me from lockdown 1, last March, is getting out for our mile a day of fresh air. It forced us to get walking into our routine as it was the only thing we could do, really and leaving the house once a day to do exercise was the limit. It feels like a different lifetime ago, but there are some lovely benefits to come from it. VIEW the POST
Dogs and kids can give one another a great deal of joy. However, if you’re not monitoring the situation, things can get dangerous. Your dog needs the chance to get used to kids early and probably require a lot of monitoring. We were really lucky with our dogs as they are both very tolerant with the kids. I remember when Noah was a baby, he would pull clumps of hair from Rambo and he never battered an eyelid! It is really important to train your dog with the children.
We love going to the Peak District and have been there a few times as a family. We have camped and more recently we stayed at a hotel in Sheffield where we drove into the Peaks every day. This time we walked up Kinder Scout on one of the hottest days this Summer (so far) and it was really nice to get back to an air conditioned hotel room. Yes, Wells-Next-the-Sea is a long way to drive for the day. However, fuel costs besides it is a really great family day out without breaking the bank. The grown ups love it, the kiddies love it and the doggies love it too. It's a win win day out for all the family. It is just beautiful to go for a Winter day trip. VIEW the POST
I am not very good at New Years resolutions, I tend to just think about what I would like to do that year and try my best. Walking is my thing. I worked on it last year and did a lot more walking than the year before. I want to make sure I do more of it in 2020. Mindfulness is another topic I am keen to explore more this year – finding ways to keep my mind healthy. Walking is definitely good for that too.
