We recently worked with Jet2 Holidays too: Jet2 Rhodes. It was amazing and we had a lovely family break together at Blue Sea Holiday Village. You can find amazing family package holidays and all the prices include a suitcase for each person flying, hand luggage and all transfers to get you from the airport to the hotel. We loved our trip with Jet2holidays in Rhodes. You do not need to worry about anything else, especially if you have chosen all inclusive.
Flights and Transfers
We have used Jet2 Holidays a couple of times now and every time it has been seamless. The queues, despite looking quite long at times, go quickly. You can check in online before your holiday and drop your suitcases off at the airport which is a lot quicker and easier too. Isla and I enjoyed putting the labels on our suitcases too and pressing the button to zoom them off on the conveyor belt (it was like Toy Story). The planes are comfortable, we have been on 2 different types of plane and both were great. We like the colourful chairs and the staff are really friendly. The inflight menu is just amazing too, we got pizza’s on both our flights to and from Rhodes – the BEST thing I have had in the air! At £6 you get a lot for your money too. Check out Jet2 flights to Rhodes or find your perfect destination.
The transfers were easy to navigate: on arrival a representative was waiting at the arrival gate and you are easily led to where you need to go – you tell them your name and they tell you which coach you need to jump on. The coach trip is comfortable, air con, toilet and wifi in our coach and the driver told us a little about what was around us. Rhodes looks beautiful and I love seeing the sights on the way to your hotel.
Hotel – Our family room
We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Sea Holiday Village. First impressions: it was clean, inviting and the staff were so friendly. It seemed huge when we walked up to reception, but you soon get used to where you need to be, and at what time. We arrived really late but the hotel had put out snacks in the restaurant for the late night arrivals, which I thought was a lovely idea. Our room was immaculate. The family room is 2 double beds, balcony, long shelf which came in really handy. A TV with quite a few English speaking channels, BBC News etc. There was a wardrobe with safe and fridge, bottled water throughout our stay and a shower room. The shower room had everything you needed included a hair dryer. The safe was free to use everyday too – you just set a code and it worked. And, all importantly, you get a token for towels when you check in and you get free towels throughout your stay – you can change them every 3 days.
Jet2 Rhodes – Blue Sea Holiday Village
The hotel has a lovely large reception area with comfortable sofa’s and chairs for sitting in the evenings. We spent a couple of nights playing Uno with a cocktail from the Jungle Bar. There is a disco and entertainment by the main pool every night, you can hear some of it when you are eating your dinner (if you eat on the balcony of the restaurant).
There was a lot to choose from in terms of food, especially for us vegetarians. I was so impressed. Breakfast you had the main foods like cooked breakfast and continental breakfast, fruits, breads, grains, yogurts and freshly cooked waffles and crepes. There was a huge amount of choice. Lunchtime and Dinner time offered even more choice from meats, fish and vegetarian dishes. I had vegetarian lasagne one day, vegetarian pie on another etc. Freshly fried foods from vegetables to fish. The nicest fries (the kids said they were better than McD’s) every meal time too. A selection of about 8 vegetables and a huge salad buffet. Sauces, accompaniments, breads and yummy extras were all around too. Every mealtime I had a least 2 choices of vegetarian dishes, on top of the salad and vegetable selection etc.
I read the reviews beforehand about the food being cold, so I was worried about this but the food wasn’t cold. There was one occasion where I waited for fresh fries and my food did get a little cold. But, I warmed it up in the microwave, by the ovens, quickly and it was fine.
Between lunchtime and 6pm you can also check out the food court and get freshly cooked pizza, greek foods or crepes from the bakery. This was a hit with the kids as you can imagine – but was great for our last day too where we missed dinner in the buffet restaurant and so had pizza that day. Great idea.
Every meal had a selection of nice drinks in the restaurant too – wines, beer, soft drinks, water and coffee machine. The Cappuccino was nice. There are 2 bars where you can get any other drink you could imagine including cocktails and mocktails. They made my favourite Aperol Spritz and so I was happy all week. The kids loved the mocktail; there is one made with banana juice which was just delicious.
Absolutely everyone in that hotel was so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We were able to stay in the room longer (late checkout ) as our flight home was in the evening and the cleaning staff left us little surprises each day for 2 examples – little things that make you feel special. Hubby tried the spa too and had a massage, which was a luxury and very relaxing. There is an indoor pool in the spa which looks inviting when you walk past.
On site there is a clothes shop that sells a small selection of clothes and a large selection of swimwear. There is another shop, open until late, that sells lots of lovely stuff: gifts, inflatables, suncreams, snacks etc. If you forget your toothbrush, no panic.
If you did want to venture off site, Afandou is a 15 minute walk which has supermarkets etc. Faliraki is an hours walk to the west of the hotel (follow the beach road) and another nice town if you walk east. The beach is less stony to the east too.
The hotel is split into 3 main areas in terms of day time: 3 main pool areas. There is the kiddies pool area, quiet pool area and the main pool that has entertainment and activities throughout the day (music and aqua aerobics etc). You can walk to the beach too, there is a dedicated area on the beach for guests and you can walk there in about 10 minutes. The beach is stony, a selection of larger and smaller stones – the kids loved building stone statues and dipping their toes in the sea. There was a nice selection of people at the hotel, we saw lots of families, couples and the odd group of youngsters that were clearly venturing into Faliraki in the evenings. Because the hotel is spread out so nicely we didn’t see a lot of people during the day, just the families around the slide pool. The all inclusive holiday experience with Jet2holidays has been really enjoyable, we definitely recommend it for families.
We absolutely loved our package holiday to Greece with Jet2 Holidays. The kids didn’t want to come home, that’s always a good sign. If you would like to know more about our trip please do ask, I have had a lot of questions about the hotel as some people’s reviews on Tripadvisor felt the opposite to mine. I am happy to answer anything. Check out my other adventure posts for more travel inspiration.
Hi, this was really useful to read as we go in 2 weeks. I just wanted to ask do men have to wear long trousers in the restaurant for evening meal? Thanks
Thank you so much. Such a good question and I should have said: my husband wore smart shorts every night. He did pack a pair of trousers just in case. But never got asked to change.
This looks ideal for a family break where most things are taken care of for you so you can focus on relaxing!
