Getting enough sleep each night is essential for your well-being, but many things can keep you up at night. Whether you’re worried about your kids, finances, work, or other issues that are causing you concern, it’s hard to be able to switch off and wake up feeling refreshed the next morning. If you have recently been going through a period where you not getting the rest you need, try the following tips to see if they can help you relax and drift off into a deep sleep. I wish I could sleep like the kiddies do, that would be a better night’s sleep!

1.   Do Something Relaxing Before Bed

In a fast-paced world, you might find that you’re busy working or doing other important jobs right up until the time you go to bed. While you might want to try and keep on top of your to-do list, this isn’t always beneficial and can leave you still feeling alert and active into the late (or very early) hours. Try to avoid doing anything that stimulates your mind too much before you go to sleep, and instead, do something that relaxes you. This could be enjoying a hot bath or shower, listening to some calming music, reading a book, or even some meditation to help clear your mind.

2.   Does Your Mattress Need to be Replaced?

If nothing is playing on your mind, but rather you struggle to get comfortable enough to sleep at night, this could be due to a poor-quality mattress. It is recommended that you replace your mattress every 7 to 10 years, so if it has been a long time since you bought a new one, this is something to consider. You should also have a mattress that is giving your body the right support as you sleep, so it’s always worthwhile going in-store to test mattresses before you purchase one.

3.   Try Some Natural Sleep Aids and Supplements

Another option you can explore is taking some natural sleep aids and supplements to help your body relax. These can include things such as lavender, whether you take these supplements in tablet form or spray lavender scents on your pillows. CBD products have also been said to help people get a better night’s sleep, and you can use CBD oil or ingest CBD gummies if you would prefer. Look at your guide to CBD gummies in the UK to learn more about what brands are on offer. You might even prefer to drink some chamomile tea before you go to bed, as this has frequently been used to help people drift off to sleep.

4.   Do More Exercise

When you are feeling tired, exercise might be the last thing you want to do, but it can help to improve the quality of sleep you have each night. Not only will this help you maintain good health but engaging in physical activity can help to release more endorphins, which in turn can help to put you in a better, more relaxed mood. Also, using up extra energy is a great way to help you feel more tired in the evenings and drop into a deeper sleep so that your body can recover.

If you have been struggling to get a good night’s sleep recently and you’re feeling fed up, consider these tips and see if any of them could work for you so you can at last wake up feeling refreshed. Check out my top tips for helping the kids sleep too!
