Bottle Week: Calypso Electric Breast Pump

Bottle Week: Calypso Electric Breast Pump

Ardo has developed a brand new range of Breastpumps and nursing aid products. These new products have been developed with the purpose of meeting both the personal requirements and individual needs of mothers and their babies. Personal requirements for me were ease, comfort, efficiency and discreetness. I wanted to be able to use this pump sitting on my comfortable sofa, watching the TV without feeling like an eye sore in front of my husband and also wanted it to be discreet in front of Noah. I wasn't sure how he would react to the big scary electric pump attached to mummy. I was extremely lucky to have been sent the Calypso Electric Breast Pump and also just in time for our holiday abroad. So what's in the box: Calypso Breast Pump with single pumpset, breast shells 26mm and 31mm, breast shell insert 28mm, OptiFlow 26mm, brush for cleaning and bottle ...

Bottle Week: MAM Anti Colic

Bottle Week: MAM Anti Colic

I was lucky enough to be sent a MAM Manual Pump to review when I was pregnant with Isla, the manual pump came with a green MAM anti colic bottle to capture the milk that you have expressed. I say I'm lucky I was sent the pump because I would never have come across the bottles, they are absolutely fantastic and by far the best bottles I have ever used. They are so easy to use, the anti colic system is fantastic and really helped with Isla. I am in a firm routine with the bottles now, I never have any trouble washing them and they fit in the steriliser too. The other really good thing about these bottles is that they self sterilise!!! This has come in extremely handy over the weeks. The teat shape was perfect for Isla - she was happiest feeding from this shaped teat and ...

Breastfeeding Beyond the First Month

Isla is officially 6 weeks old now so ive successfully made it past the first month and I feel extremely proud for it, so I should! It’s not easy, it’s emotionally draining when you have 2 and also draining on your body. Keeping up your energy levels by eating and resting, sometimes just simply doesn’t happen in my house, the amount of times my day has started at 4am and running around after Noah I forget to have a proper lunch. Because I only breastfed for a short time with Noah, I never developed a milk supply, like I have with Isla. This time around there have been quite a few surprises along the way. When you have an established milk supply, usually after 4 weeks, your body knows when to produce milk and gets prepared accordingly. I know it’s time for milk because my boobs feel extremely heavy and…

Where did I find my breastfeeding support?

Where did I find my breastfeeding support?

When I was pregnant with Noah I wasn't sure about breastfeeding, I didn't "feel" like I wanted to breastfeed and I can't explain why! It might be because I had never been around people that breastfed, or that were breastfeeding in front of me - I really don't know! All I do know is that I tried to breastfeed and I know in my heart of hearts (because of how well Isla is doing) that I didn't give it a proper chance with Noah and I should have persevered. If I had of given it a few more days then I am sure that I would have breastfed Noah for a lot longer than I did. I didn't realise that for the first couple of weeks they use you to get your body into a routine of what milk they need and this means that they might feed a little more often ...

The Benefits of Breastfeeding

The Benefits of Breastfeeding

Did you know that when breastfeeding, your body releases a hormone called Oxytocin? This hormone is otherwise known as the "LOVE" hormone, it helps to make the bond between you and your baby even deeper. I must admit that when breastfeeding Isla I feel so amazingly close to her, not just proximity wise but I feel like I am learning more and more about her every time she feeds. To me, this is the best benefit of breastfeeding as I get to spend that quality time with my little baby that no one else can provide for her, as that is what my body is made to do- especially for her! The whole time Isla is feeding I stare at her, in awe mainly, watching her facial expressions, watching her body and the way she moves when she is feeding. I love the way that she strokes me when she is ...

Lansinoh breast feeding products

Lansinoh sent me some fabulous products, that I simply couldn’t live without because I’m breast feeding and they have become a part of my daily routine: nipple cream and breast pads. The nipple cream by Lansinoh is absolutely phenomenal, as soon as I apply it to my sore areas, they seem instantly relieved. It takes away the burning type feeling from the tip of my nipple and seems to calm it down, which makes them feel better for the next time Isla latches on. The consistency of the cream is like a thick gloopy texture, petroleum colour and is quite hard when colder. I was advised that this particular nipple cream, makes for a good lip salve too, so with the excess cream, I always put some on my lips and indeed it is a great lip salve. If only it didn’t say nipple cream on the case, I’d use…
