I can’t be the only one who does the frantic packing the afternoon before you fly to go on your Summer beach holiday? There’s clothes strewn across the bed, you’re trying to figure out if twelve different swimsuits is too many and you’re shouting at everyone who dares to get in your way as you’ve just weighed your suitcase and it’s 3kg over (without your toiletries)… Sound familiar?

The search is off for the perfect holiday packing list, because you’re looking right at it; TK Maxx have come up with THE packing list.

Packing Hacks

Once you’ve got everything you need, it’s time to pack up your bags. To avoid jamming your suitcase shut or being hit with an unexpected excess baggage fee, follow these tips:

  1. Rolling your clothes – For wrinkle-free clothes and maximum suitcase efficiency, rolling is the way to go. Rolling your clothes prevents wrinkles and stubborn creases that folding can create, ensuring you arrive in paradise without the need to iron.
  2. Use packing cubes – Packing cubes are a lifesaver for organising your belongings and simplifying unpacking at your destination. Separate your swimwear and underwear in one cube, day clothes in another, and evening attire in a separate one. This method will help you avoid overpacking and streamline your travel experience.
  3. Stuff your shoes – Shoes often take up a lot of space in your luggage, but you can make better use of them. Utilise the empty space inside your shoes by stuffing them with socks, belts, jewelry pouches, and other small items to maximise your packing efficiency. As a bonus, this method also helps maintain the shape of your shoes during travel.
  4. Try on outfits – Before you pack, lay out possible outfits and try them on. Take photos of them for reference to help you remember what you’ve paired together. This way, you can avoid overpacking random items, or bringing pieces that don’t match.
  5. Skip the beach towel – Short-stay rental apartments and hotels will provide towels for you to use, so avoid packing them and taking up excess space. Alternatively, bring a beach bag as your hand luggage and throw a daytime outfit in it.
  6. Bright luggage – To avoid standing at baggage trying to figure out what black bag is yours, avoid the inconvenience and purchase a bright coloured bag that you can notice easily.

Beauty Travel Hacks

Packing toiletries can be a challenge when it comes to transporting them from one place to another without any spillage. To avoid this:

  1. Cling film your toiletry lids – take off the bottle lid when packing, place a layer of cling film under each lid and screw it back on. This’ll help prevent the bottle from expanding during your flight and liquid exploding all over your clothes.
  2. Pack minis – With a 20kg limit, it’s essential to cut down on toiletry sizes to meet travel requirements. Leave the big ones at home and opt for travel sized items. If you’ve already got all your products, you can also purchase some refillable mini bottles to reuse.
