It has been over 2 years since we moved in to our first family home and we finally got round to adding a splash of colour to the walls. We started in Noah’s room and I thought I would give him a boy bedroom makeover. He loves his blues and greens, football and LEGO. So I tried to think of all these things whilst I styled his room. I still cannot believe what his room looked like when we first moved in, see the photos below for the before and afters! He loves it though and it’s nice for him to have his space, even if it is a little on the small side.

When we first moved into this house Noah’s room felt dirty; I think it was the off coloured walls, dark wood and that disgusting carpet, as with all the bedroom carpets; I think it was about 30 years old. This room was the first one we stripped and painted during the weekend we moved in. It felt good to get white on the walls and clean up the carpet as best we could.

Over the course of the first year we managed to replace the carpet with a nice new one from Carpetright. We waltzed into the store and bought an offcut which was perfect for both Noah and Isla’s bedroom. I am really lucky that Daddy and his dad were able to fit them too! The grey carpet looks much nicer, don’t you think? I got him some nice black out curtains from Dunelm and I painted his cupboard doors with my favourite Frenchic Al Fresco paint (I used Greyhound on the cupboard doors).

Frenchic

More recently I had the urge to add a splash of colour and define the space for where his new desk will live. So I got a tester pot of Smooth Operator Frenchic Wall Paint and I painted a circle around where the TV is mounted on the wall and I created a rectangle of the same blue just above where his desk sits; I made it flow from one wall to the other so it gives a framed effect to his beautiful desk.

Little Folks Furniture retro chair and storage desk

The desk is from Little Folks Furniture; we received the storage desk and retro chair bundle (Β£330). It is such good quality wood and feels smooth, even around the edges which is perfect for a kids room. Especially a small kids room. I love the clean look of it and Scandi feel. It is modern and retro all in one! Noah just loves it too. He uses the storage for his football books, or his LEGO manuals and he sits and builds his LEGO at his desk or does his homework. It is the perfect size for him and really brings together his boy bedroom makeover incorporating all of his favourite things into one space.

Noah at his desk

I love furniture that is easy to build, but feels like it is built really well and this took me about 30 minute to put together and feels very secure. The instructions were very easy to follow; I was impressed! You can also buy the storage desk and retro chair separately too! Perfect if you need a new desk or chair for your little person’s space.

Desk top

We put the large shelves up for Noah to show off his LEGO creations, I am looking forward to seeing his collections grow over the Summer. The shelves and shelving units are from IKEA. They are so versatile and really fit with the desk and chair. I also got his funky geo bedding set from Dunelm, I loved the blue and green pattern, it brings together his favourite colours and the blues from his bedroom.

What do you think of Noah’s new boy bedroom makeover? Do you like to add fun splashes of colour to a room? I would love to know what you think in the comments below. You can keep up with all of my interior posts and watch out for our Summer renovation plan reveal; coming soon!

We LOVE this result! Fantastically airy and bright, with clever pops of colour to pull it all together.
Our Edit desk and Retro chair look really at home in the space, and the colour block on the wall above is genius!

Thanks so much for the feature. πŸ™‚
