As many of you know, I just loved Bento style lunches, right from when the children were young. So when I found out Petit-Fernand have created the personalised lunch box – Bento Box, I couldn’t wait to try them and neither could the little people! They are a great idea for keeping food separated and cool due to the awesome ice pack.

What is a Bento Box?

Bento comes from Japan, the idea is simple it’s a single-portion meal that you can take out or have at home. Traditionally you would have rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box. Such a great idea. So the idea of the Bento Box is to hold all of these goodies in compartments making it neat and easy to carry.

Personalised lunch boxes

I just love the personalisation you can do on these lunch boxes and all of their products. The limited edition lunchboxes are just too cute. There are 28 themes to choose from, I had to go with the VW Camper theme for Noah and “Moana” theme for Isla. You can choose different colours for the text, depending on the main theme you choose and a different colour for the themed items too. It’s really customisable. You can write your text in the field provided and see it on the product you are customising, which is useful as you can see what the finished article looks like.

The Bento Box has a capacity of 1000ml which is split up into compartments: it has 2 removable small containers and an inner box. To keep the food cool for a few hours, just put the ice pack in the inner box – make sure it’s been in the freezer overnight first. Another great thing about the lunch box is that it is micro-wave safe so that you can easily heat up your food too.

You can also get awesome school labels for the children from Petit-Fernand and get labelled up for school in no time. I would love to hear your thoughts on Bento style lunches in the comments below or on social media: @mummyconstant.
