We had a lovely weekend, courtesy of our friends, who paid for us all to go to West Yorkshire and spend the weekend together. We had a lovely weekend in the snowy hills of Slaithwaite and the fact it was snowing made the break away extra special. Albeit cold. The barn was absolutely perfect, lots of space and stunning. One of the most nostalgic aspects of having had a Great British childhood is looking back with fondness on Sunday afternoons, when all of the family got together and fought over a sumptuous banquet. Though these family occasions are to be cherished, the morning that invariably preceded them is probably not remembered too fondly by the overworked chef in the kitchen. Whether it was our mother or father who slaved away for hours to whip up the fantastic spread, juggling a thousand things at once, one thingโs for sure: Sunday mornings might be easy, but Sunday roasts arenโt.VIEW the POST
We spent our half term week in an old chapel, in Buckden in the Yorkshire Dales. I had no idea what to expect but was so very pleasantly surprised. We had a fabulous break away and the children walked nearly 20 miles across the week. I was impressed with Holiday Lettings, who made the holiday booking experience easy and quick. The cottage looked exactly like it did in the photos and we have such lovely memories to share forever now. I love holidays like that.
Today we took a trip to Robin Hood's Bay - it was really picturesque despite the dreary weather. The children enjoyed some nice exercise up and down the hills today, fish and chips, sweeties from a lovely sweet shop and a yummy hot chocolate. VIEW the POST
