With Halloween being on a Friday, with people at work and children at school, what better excuse than to spend the weekend sticking and glueing in true Halloween style! I got some fantastic spook-tacular craft kits from Baker Ross to entertain the children this weekend, Isla loved her witches broomstick very much.
Witches broomsticks
The witches broomsticks are a great idea, all the parts come in the packs and there are a few packs in the kit. The instructions are basic on the leaflets but it does the trick. The only thing you need for this kit is glue which you need for the initial part of glueing the broom to the stick! This is the only bit I need to help Isla with as the rest of it was perfect for her to stick and be creative. She loved the glittery moon and stars. Once she finished the broom she said “Whoosh”, she knew what she had made and she loved it. Whoosh comes from “Room on the broom” and that is one of her favourite stories. With my help, it took this little 2 and a half year old about 10 minutes to make her broom. I thought that was a great time, it kept her engaged and she really enjoyed playing with it afterwards.
Eye patches
These are really good and very simple to make up, Isla wanted to make Halloween pumpkin style eye patches and so she stuck her pumpkin stickers on to them, the pumpkin stickers were also from Baker Ross (you can find them here), great idea. Noah wanted to colour his in, so you can do a bit of both. Let them be creative. It took Isla 5 minutes to decorate her eye patch and we had fun being Halloween pirates afterwards.
Spider pom pom
This was the one that I had to help with the most, I had to tie the spider up with the legs and pom pom and then attach it to the stick for Isla and she had fun sticking the eyes on and bouncing the spider all around the kitchen. It took me about 5 minutes to assemble the spider and then Isla seconds to put on her eyes. So all in all it was good timing as she spent about half an hour trying to spook the cat afterwards.
The kits are all really good prices, they come in packs of 3/4 so that you are not buying just one kit which is a great idea. They would make fantastic party bag presents and this is what I will be buying from now on for all of our party bags. They are easy to make, even for Isla and really fun. I couldn’t believe how good the witches broomsticks came out. Great quality for the price. Isla also had fun with the glow in the dark stars, she took them to bed with her and fell asleep watching them glow – another fab idea for party bags don’t you think?
