Red Nose Day is back! Comic Relief is hitting the big 4-0 this year, can you believe it? So RND promises to be one for the history books. It will be the biggest, bestest birthday bash the nation has ever known! I have always supported RND, and it definitely pulls on my heart strings. What you are you doing for Red Nose Day 2025?
In those 40 years, a whopping £1.6 billion has been raised to support over 100 million people. Comic Relief will be thanking the nation for its sensational silliness, fantastic fundraising and gigantic generosity, including the tens of thousands of pupils, parents, guardians and teachers from nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools, who go big and give big by doing something funny for money, year after year.

But as the world keeps changing, the difficult situations many find themselves in change too. Right now, so many people, here in the UK and across the world, are facing the toughest times of their lives. This Red Nose Day, a donation could help put food on plates and roofs over heads, keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict. So, let’s keep raising the laughs that raise the cash – to make even more big, beautiful change possible.
To help pupils celebrate all that has been achieved together over the last 40 years, this year’s school fundraising resources are crammed full of ways to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising and channel that ‘anything-goes-when-you-wear-a-Red-Nose’ feeling. Schools are being encouraged to buy a Red Nose, build for the future with LEGO, take on their own Billy Monger-inspired challenge, or even create epic birthday bakes– because every birthday party needs a cake, right? – there’s something for everyone. Whether everyone dresses up, has a mega bake sale, or the whole school does an epic challenge.
The big 40th birthday bake
This Red Nose Day, help celebrate Comic Relief’s 40th birthday with a big birthday bake sale! Whatever the plan, why not get your hands on our exclusive Red Nose Day Bake Kit from comicrelief.com/bake.
Join team Billy & set your own epic challenge!
One of our bravest showbiz chums, former racing driver and fundraising legend Billy Monger, took on the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, all in support of Red Nose Day. Billy faced an extraordinary challenge: a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile run in the blistering Hawaiian heat, all while striving to break the IRONMAN World Championship record for a double amputee. His remarkable achievement showcased his strength, determination, and heart, all while raising vital funds for Comic Relief. Now it’s your turn to be inspired—why not inspire your students to set their own personal challenge or create mini-ironman in PE to help make a difference!
Blue Peter gets ‘Reddy’ for Red Nose Day
In true Blue Peter style, the team are going BIG for Red Nose Day. They will be pulling out all the stops for Comic Relief’s big 4-0 bash, taking a trip down memory lane and providing a very special retro Red Nose Day cake recipe for the festivities. In the spirit of 40 years of going above and beyond to elicit a giggle and do good, Blue Peter are taking a leaf from Billy Mongers’ book and holding a Billy inspired challenge for a very special segment on their Red Nose Day show. Classes interested in getting involved in the challenge, or who have something special planned this Red Nose Day can drop an email to schools@comicrelief.com.

Building the school of the future – with the LEGO Group!
In partnership with the LEGO Group’s Build the Change initiative, Comic Relief is calling on kids to imagine how they think their classrooms, playtime and lessons could be transformed to be even more playful! To enter, students can create their designs using LEGO® bricks, pens, or any other materials they like and ask a teacher to e-mail their entry to LEGO@comicrelief.com. Each entry gives them the chance to win one of 40 LEGO kits for their school, with one lucky winner also receiving a cash prize for their school and a special edition LEGO® Build the Change kit. - £10 could help provide 50 meals to families in need in the UK
- £15 could provide a child refugee school uniform for their new school, helping them settle in during what could be a turbulent time
Zanecty’s story
Your donations can transform lives like Zanecty’s, whose story is spotlighted in this year’s fundraising guide. Born with a disability in Nairobi, she faced years of limited support, but thanks to The Action Foundation, a Comic Relief-funded project, she is now thriving in school. From struggling to sit, walk, or hold a pen, Zanecty is now confidently achieving these milestones and more. The project helps children with disabilities access education and support, giving them the chance to reach their full potential. Your support makes this – and much more – possible.
Samir Patel, CEO of Comic Relief, said: “Seeing all the different ways schools across the nation get involved in Red Nose Day is one of my highlights of the year – the passion, energy and creativity never ceases to amaze me. As we reach 40 years of Comic Relief this year, there’s lots to celebrate – including the thousands of teachers, parents and guardians who have gone to great lengths to inspire the next generation of kind, empathetic people; and the children themselves, who are learning more about doing good.
“The lessons fundraising teaches are more valuable than ever – especially with so many facing impossible choices to get by every day. So, whatever you do this Red Nose Day, embrace the silliness, raise a smile, and help to spread some joy, because when we all do something funny for money, giving gets bigger and bigger.”
