It’s probably not the most traditional of spaces for being creative and all things “imagination” but my favourite space for being creative is my bed. It makes me feel warm, safe, cosy and happy. So I guess that’s why I have the most productive creative sessions when I am happily typing away on a blog post (like now!).
I think everyone of us has a special space that makes them feel so content that productivity pours out of them. Mine is my bed, with a freshly made bed, clean sheets and nicely made of course, fluffy cushions and if night time, the fairy lights on. I do love it at night time too when the fairy lights are on, the dull light makes it all feel very magical – which just aids the creativity all the more. The smell of freshly cleaned sheets just makes you feel happy too. Why is that?
Don’t get me wrong, working on the bed is not for everyone. Some people lie down and just sleep. Some people cannot stand lying down and typing, but because I have short bursts of creative writing or design work, I tend to spend 30 minutes at a time, which doesn’t leave room for being uncomfortable. Also my great big cushion helps me to sit up right and not feel my back aching. I don’t for one second spend a day lying on my bed doing my day job work for example, that would be uncomfortable.

The sheets and throw I have on my bed in these photos are from The Fine Cotton Company. I have the Paris Percale in latte bed linen set and the very soft Hampton fleece blanket also in latte. Gorgeous quality, super soft and it feels like I am getting into a hotel bed every night. Super!
