When Dulux sent me this storytime theme idea for a child’s bedroom, I knew instantly that it would be perfect for little Isla and her love of stories. It turned out just how I visioned it, with her little Ollie and Leila bean bag chair in the corner. The perfect storytime corner for a little girl who can discover who she is and what she’s passionate about. She loves reading and I wanted to encourage that.
The idea was part of a bigger campaign from Dulux, they teamed up with Dr Sam Wass from Channel 4’s Secret Life of Five Year Old, to encourage parents to involve their child in the creative process. Isla sat with me and she instantly fell in love with the clouds and the idea of a storytime corner.[pdf-embedder url=”https://mummyconstant.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Dulux_KidsBedrooms_DigitalMediaPackage.pdf”]
I followed the instructions to create the cloud feature wall from the Dulux storytime YouTube video, which you can see below and if you feel inspired all you need is three colour paints and your off:
I used the chalk to loosely outline where I wanted the clouds to be, then painted on the Jasmine White paint, then the Goosedown and finally mixed the colours with the tied up sponge to create that fluffy cloud effect.
I think the clouds on the wall looks magical, Isla loves it and it goes with the Princess theme too that Isla is really into. She loves to sit in her corner and read books to her teddies and Princess dolls.
If you would like to create your own storytime corner for your little girl, you can see the guide and information on the Dulux website: www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/kids-rooms-storybook. If you would like a bean bag chair from Ollie and Leila you can find their wonderful products on the website: www.ollieandleila.co.uk.
I created this corner on my own, using the Dulux idea as a guide. All paint and brushes were supplied from Dulux in order to recreate the themed wall. We received the bean bag chair from Ollie and Leila to create the story corner. All opinions and photos are my own.
