I recently discovered the new #LoveYourLife campaign from Pen Heaven, it’s such a great idea because it’s all about encouraging people to journal. Did you know journalling can make for better mental health? All of this technology around us, but sitting with a pen and paper can really help you to unwind and offload.

Getting started

Firstly, you need to choose a journal and a reliable pen for doodling. I chose the large refillable grained journal, I like this as once I fill the pages up I can reuse the outer cover. The pen I chose is a cross wanderlust ballpoint pen, it’s super pretty.

The art of journalling

Journalling can be whatever you want it to be, it’s quite simple. It’s the process of writing down your feelings and emotions. You do not have to put pressure on yourself to treat it like a diary – but write when you have time and you feel the need to. You might have a page for a good recipe that makes you happy, or some cleaning tips you saw online – you can then explore these and add your own. It might be that you want to just doodle for an hour, see where you end up.

Doodling

Try a bullet journal

I love this concept. In it’s basic form, a bullet journal has the following sections: to do list, monthly calendar, notes, long term wants and plenty of room for doodles. It encourages you to think about how your goals make you feel. There are books about this, but the best resource I have found is Instagram. So many beautiful ideas floating around that can give you inspiration.

Make sure your bullet journal has the following sections:

  • Index
  • Future Log
  • Monthly Log
  • Daily Log
  • Tasks
  • Events
  • Notes
  • Priority (as in what tasks are your priority for the month)
  • Inspiration

Pen Heaven are donating 10% of all sales of their Green Palmi Grained Leather Journal (£22) to a worthy charity, the Mental Health Foundation. So, if you are going to grab yourself a new journal for 2020 this one is a great idea. Are you taking part in the #LoveYourLife campaign for 2020? I would love to know if you are keeping a bullet journal in the comments below.
