Let Bath be the bringer of comfort and joy for you and your family this Christmas. Bath has many attractions, sure to bring a smile to the faces of your little ones. Embedded in Wiltshire, Bath is next to the gorgeous River Avon and truly comes to life during the winter season. Here is a short guide to Bath, for a family friendly Christmas break.
Sleep and Be Merry: Francis Hotel Bath
Be sure to book yourself into a hotel near the city centre. We’d recommend Francis Hotel Bath, owned by MGallery Collection, because of their top of the range service and beautiful interiors. Decorated similarly to the rest of Bath, its stunning limestone facade floors will transport you back to the Georgian era in all of its decadent finery. Sitting in a prime location in Bath’s city centre, Francis Hotel Bath is perfect for family getaways, because of its connecting rooms and babysitting services, just in case you and your significant other ever fancy getting away for a bit to have a celebratory eggnog in their luxurious bar. Activities: Victoria Art Gallery
During the entirety of December, Bath’s internationally renowned art gallery is revelling in the winter season by putting on a variety of child friendly events, including Decorate December and Fantastic Festivities. Decorate December is the fun-filled quest for decorations hidden all around the museum, ideal for you and your partner too, as you can have a look at the exhibits while your little tykes are scurrying trying to scout out baubles and tinsel! Fantastic Festivities is when the kids can all get together, make new friends as well as create the three wise men and Rudolph the reindeer from arts and crafts. To get involved with these events, you’ll need to pre-book and donate £4, which is nothing really, considering what a fun day out you’ll get out of it! More details about the workshops are here.
Celebrate: Longleat Christmas
Turn your winter into a furry wonderland. If you want to give the kids a fairy-tale Christmas, then be sure to take them to Longleat, Britain’s favourite Safari Park, which has an otherworld quality about it, as mystical as a child’s wildest dream. Longleat celebrates the winter months in style, hosting special Christmas events during the run up to December the 25th. As soon as you enter their gates, you’ll see the grounds decorated in a state-of-the-art Christmas theme, including a 50ft singing Christmas tree, the only one of its kind in Europe. Penguin shows are featured during the day, which you can watch as you zoom around the ginormous ice rink next door. Don’t forget the main attraction mind you, within the famous Longleat house, where you can meet panto favourites, Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf, Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella and last but not least- Scrooge. Check out Longleat’s website for more details.
