A throwback to 4 years ago… an impromptu moment where the kids had been given balloons 🎈

We stopped in this field, with the buttercup blooms and sunshine setting… it was a beautiful scene.

They had me in stitches laughing at Daddy, who was encouraging them to smile for photos.

I love this photo. I remember them being so happy they had the balloons.

Do you ever look back at old photos and reminisce?

I think this might be my new favourite view… onboard my SUP! 🔵🔴

After 4.5 hours of paddling yesterday, on my first paddleboarding adventure, my thighs and shoulders have decided to disown me today. But, no pain no gain.

I’m looking forward to taking her out on some shorter trips, in the golden hours and taking a book to read on my pitstop.

I have learnt how to get the SUP inflated and deflated, I managed to fold it up into its bag too! It’s like getting a tent back in its original packaging- it never goes back exactly how it came out! 😂

My top tip for any SUP beginners is to find a slow moving river or lake to practice without a strong current.

A little reel of my first paddleboard trip along the river. On my very own beautiful paddleboard too! It was meant to be pink, but the red and blue is perfect. We paddled for 4 hours in total, around the river in Cambridgeshire.

We stopped at Houghton Lock for a picnic and it was so peaceful. I love being out on the river. Albeit I was quite nervous I would fall in, I didn’t. Phew.

I did a combo of stand up paddleboarding, kneeling and sitting to get a rowing rhythm going when I needed it. The wind was against us on the way, which felt hard. But it helped on the way back.

I’m in love with days like this. So beautiful and I felt present, watching the dragonflies, butterflies and even the otters. It’s such a wonderful activity to practice mindfulness and also a spot of yoga. Lots of Table Top positions!

I can’t wait to get out on the river again! Have you tried paddleboarding before?

Devon you were amazing ☀️ We try to get down to North Devon at least once a year. We love the beaches and the beautiful villages along that stretch of coastline.

It was a great week of family time, lots of sun and sea. We felt like we had gone to Spain with the weather. Daddy and the kids camped the week before and had a stunning week of sunshine too.

I managed to read two books and I even went for a swim in the sea 😂 It was nice to have a week of doing not much.

It took us 6 hours to get home. My road trip consisted of multiple stops though as I had the dogs with me. So, I didn’t think it was that bad. Yes, I know it’s quicker to get to actual Spain 😂

Have you ever been down to Devon?

The views yesterday were absolutely stunning. Woolacoombe you didn’t disappoint.

The sea was so calm, which I loved but the kiddies wanted waves to bodyboard through. I actually went in the sea. It was quite warm in the shallows.

As the sun reached near its setting place the reflection on the sea was mesmerising. I could have sat there all evening.

More beach days please 🙏🏻 Have you been to the beach this Summer?

Parenting tips for first time parents

Being a parent is one of the most important roles that you’ll ever play in your life. It is a beautiful, tiring, and amazing journey and for first-time parents, it can often be a tad bit overwhelming. Learning on the job can be quite stressful in any role and just like any other job, all the classes and reading up will not fully prepare you as well as the real-life hands-on experience. Knowing your rights as a parent if your child is in hospital

It’s a topic that most parents would hopefully never need to give much thought to. Most parents would never wish to experience the fear and worry that accompanies seeing their child through a hospital stay. Recent high profile cases surrounding children with brain injury in particular have brought the conversation about parents rights into the public consciousness. It is really upsetting to hear about these stories in the news, it really got me thinking about what I would do in these situations.

5 tips to enjoying that grownup getaway you need #travel

5 tips to enjoying that grownup getaway you need #travel

Having kids is a beautiful and rewarding experience. The only problem with being a parent all the time is that you start to see your partner as “Dad” or “Mum” instead of husband and wife. You need to focus on your relationship in order to have a healthy relationship.  To do that, you need to continue to put effort into your relationship as a couple. This applies to nuclear, and non-traditional families alike. You need to put the effort into the romance in order to have that romance continue. Your children won’t always be children, after all, and you have the rest of your lives together after your children move out and have children of their own. A grownup getaway is the answer! 6 Tips for handling the transition into motherhood

6 Tips for handling the transition into motherhood

Of all the things that people warned me of when I first announced I was pregnant, very few of them ended up breaking into the top ten of things I should have been prepared for.  They mentioned sleepless nights, dirty nappies and sore breasts but these were to be expected with a newborn in the house. How your masters in counselling degree can help make you a better parent

Being a parent is arguably one of the toughest jobs there is. There is no training you take ahead of time, no test or certification that lets you know you’re ready to take on the role; you just jump right in and hope for the best. At the same time, there are some careers that can indeed translate at home and help you to become a better and more effective parent. A counselling degree will surely help with that.
