Planning a family vacation can be quite the process, especially if you are trying to please and entertain multiple kids. One destination that is filled with activities for all ages is Niagara Falls, Canada. We often think of it for its beauty, but many people aren’t aware of the sheer volume of family-friendly activities and attractions there are! Here we’ll take a look at the top nine things for families to do in Niagara Falls. Just be sure you book into one of the Niagara Falls hotels well in advance, as this is a destination that books up fast.

Hornblower Niagara Cruises

Now here’s an activity the family will not only enjoy, but remember for an entire lifetime. Just imagine being able to get up close and personal to the incredibly powerful falls, well that’s what the Hornblower cruises makes possible. Guests will travel right into the mist as the wind and power takes over, giving them a sense of just how awe-inspiring these falls are.

The Great Canadian Midway

Located right on Clifton Hill, this midway features 70,000 square feet worth of games. Because it’s indoors, it doesn’t matter what the weather is doing outside. Kids of all ages will find games they enjoy, and you can purchase token packages in order to take advantage of money savings.

Dinosaur Adventure Golf

Niagara Falls has a couple of mini golf courses that appeal to families, but the Dinosaur Adventure Golf is truly incredible. Kids will be playing amongst giant dinosaurs, a volcano that erupts and shoots flames out the top, walking across wooden bridges, and basically feeling as though they’ve been transported to a whole other land.

Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks

Another popular attraction in Niagara Falls is the many wax museums, each with their own themes and figures. The Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks is one of the most well-known and features more than 100 different life-sized figures. The figures are stars of the big screen – both current and past. Be sure to bring your camera to this attraction as you’ll be able to pose with all your favorites.

Fallsview Indoor Waterpark

If your family enjoys adventure, then the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark is sure to fit the bill. This indoor waterpark is open year-round and is found on the top of the Fallsview Hotel. The walls are all glass so you get a spectacular view of the falls and the surrounding areas. The park offers more than three acres worth of water fun, including 16 waterslides, a wave pool, an outdoor sundeck and pool, a hot springs, a kid’s area, and more.

The Rainforest Café

Even though The Rainforest Café is technically a restaurant, it is more of an attraction than just a place to eat. The kids will love the jungle setting complete with life sized animals that move and make noises. A simulated rainstorm happens every 15 minutes or so, as all the jungle animals react to the thunder and lightning. You may want to visit at lunch to avoid the dinner crowds.

MarineLand

Just a short drive from the action of the Falls is MarineLand. This is a zoo and amusement park all in one. MarineLand is home to the largest Beluga whale collection in the entire world. There are also Killer whales and land animals to view. There is a large collection of rides within the park, meant for little ones and the “bigger” kids.

Bird Kingdom

If you’re looking for a great cold-weather or rainy day activity, then Bird Kingdom shouldn’t be missed. It is conveniently located so that it is within walking distance from many of the Clifton Hills hotels. This is actually the largest free flying indoor aviary in the entire world. It is open year-round and offers a selection of birds and even a 40ft waterfall.

Niagara SkyWheel

If you want to be able to get a panoramic view of the falls and the surrounding area, then the Niagara SkyWheel is the way to do it. This Ferris wheel features enclosed climate-controlled seating so that you can enjoy the view no matter what the weather is outdoors. It is a whopping 175 feet tall and the ride itself lasts anywhere from eight to 12 minutes.

Always Plenty to See and Do

The great thing about Niagara Falls as a family destination is that there is always something to see and do, no matter what time of year you visit. In fact, you can visit multiple times without doing the same activities twice.
