This week has been the week of Toy Fair 2016, for all of those of you that do not know it is a rather large exhibition full of toys! It was amazing walking round and seeing the wonderful toys out this year and I even got to do a little scooting – which made my day! I saw a lot of toys. If you want a quick guide on what I liked best, take a look below:

Toy Fair 2016 – upcoming toys

This year there are two fabulous Disney movies coming up, Zootropolis and also Finding Dory. I am super excited about both of these movies and one particular stand caught my eye with some lovely cute goodies from both films. Who doesn’t love a good Disney movie? This is Disney’s 55th Disney animation film and it’s all about a mammal metropolis of Zootopia, where a cute little bunny enlists herself in the Zootopia Police Department. In order to solve the case of a missing otter, she ends up forming an unlikely partnership with con artist where they also come across a savage outbreak. Set with cute characters and lots of fun and adventures, this film will be out in the cinemas in March.

Did you know?

Zootropolis is only called this in Europe due to copyright laws on the original name of the film “Zootopia”.

Finding Dory is out in July and is a tale about little forgetful Dory, although its many years after Nemo, this story is set six months after Finding Nemo. Dory suddenly recalls her childhood memories. She sets off on an adventure to find her family, accompanied by Nemo and Marlin. She arrives at the Monterey Marine Life Institute, where she meets Bailey, a white beluga whale; Destiny, a whale shark; and Hank the octopus, who becomes her guide. This looks brilliant and there are some great clips on Disney UK’s YouTube channel

I was lucky enough to meet Posh Paws at Toy Fair who introduced me to the two new Disney movies and all of their cuddly ranges, including some new Tsum Tsum designs. I wanted to scoop them all up and take them home. They are just so cute. Look out for my blog posts over the coming months with details of their cuddly ranges, nursery ranges, pocket money toys, back packs and accessories.

I love this Disney Frozen Colour Snowflake bag, it changes colour and matches the colour put up against it. So if you want it to be blue you hold it up against something blue. It’s a fabulous idea. Isla loves it! It really is a great gift for a little girl.

I bumped into my lovely friends at Micro scooters, firstly I was quite wow’ed by all the fabulous colours and sizes. Then, by the mastermind behind these awesome scooters, I was told to scoot around the exhibition hall on a wonderful purple adult sized scooter. I have never felt so free, like a child again, I had a rather large smile on my face and I apologise now to all the people who I either nearly scooted into or got in the path of, but it was so much fun! Micro scooters are releasing a new range of mini and maxi micros and keep an eye on my blog for further reviews later on in the year. Yes, I know it’s hard to believe they can get any better, but they have! Also, throughout 2016, we will be finding #scooteroutes in and around Cambridgeshire. Great for family days out on the scooters.

As many of you know I am a fan of the board game, I had to pop into see my friends Esdevium games where I learnt about the new Dobble editions coming out this year, yippee, the children can join in on the fun now. If you haven’t played Dobble then I would suggest the next time you host a dinner party, buy it and pull it out after dessert. It was a lot of fun and especially when everyone has had a little glass of wine with dinner! Whilst at the Esdevium stand, I got to try out the new smart egg puzzles – I just couldn’t put it down, even after completing it. It is one of those things that would sit on my desk and I would fiddle with all day, whilst thinking and not typing. I will be reviewing this in the next few weeks, so watch this space.

I couldn’t resist going to see my friends at Orchard Toys too, they are just the best company for children’s learning games. I love their products so much, I even buy them for my friends children as I just think they are fantastic. New out for this year is the amazing game “Where do I live?” which one the best new toy at Toy Fair. Incredible. The game not only is a great lotto style game, like many of their other fantastic games, but also a learning game. Learning about where the animals come from. What animals might you find in the desert, or the jungle –  I am really looking forward to trying this one with Noah and Isla.

Another of my favourites from Orchard Toys was the giant floor puzzles, roads and track, connected together to make a huge floor puzzle – all I could see was little Noah playing with his cars and trains on top of this track. What a great way to encourage imaginative play. I will get to show you this later on in the year.

I met some new people at Toy Fair this year and found out about a whole new range of products coming to market. I was completely in love with them too – scented stationery. I love stationery as everyone knows, but scented. I wanted to lick the pencils – there is a first for me. How adorable is the tsum tsum range too? These will be really popular this year. Who remembers Hama? The beads you set out and then iron together to make pretty designs and pictures. I loved this Elsa, it really caught my eye as I was walking past. I want to make one for Isla.

I saw a lot of products that I recognised from the children watching YouTube, I loved the ShopKins Kinstructions collection, what a great idea. Everyone loves ShopKins, so what better way to branch out than to make a construction set. This will make those YouTube videos interesting.

I met lots of other fabulous minds and brands on Monday, there are so many cool products coming to shops all over England this year. Some classic toys that are being added to, remodelled and completely new characters too. I got a sneak peek at the new pocket money range “Fungus Amungus”, boys will be collecting these and sticking these to every single surface they can. Adapted from the ShopKins range, these creatures are mouldy looking and really gruesome – perfect for boys to play with. There are some fabulous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products coming out from Flair, including ones for the older children and younger children. A rather cool play set which has been remade from last year and improved, so it’s now more hard wearing and still the same price – bonus! I saw big buckets of Play-Doh (what a great idea) and some really exciting new products for 2016. Did you know Play-Doh is 60 years old this year. There are new toys coming out from Character this year too, including a new range of Care Bears, Peppa Pig construction sets, Little live pets and more fabulous pocket money toys that are great for pocket money buys. I saw many Star Wars goodies too – everything from board games to cuddly toys, so don’t worry it is not due to leave our stores this year, plenty more goodies to buy for the kids (and yourself).

Did you see my tweets about the most amazing cake I have ever seen? Galt Toys had a cake made to celebrate their birthday and I honestly thought it looked like toys stacked up. It was amazing and tasted it too.

I have included some more photos that I took on my journeys around Toy Fair 2016 below, I look forward to showing you some of these wonderful toys in more detail throughout 2016. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to pop them below.

Thanks for the comment Lindsay – it really was a fab day and great to see so many products coming out this year. Very exciting. Micro scooters are great. The new ones are even better too – for example the mini now has moveable handle bars. Perfect for growing little ones. ๐Ÿ™‚
