However, plumbing can be expensive. A recent survey by the Water Regulation Advisory Service found that around a fifth of people tried to fix plumbing issues themselves without calling a professional. In contrast, a third of homeowners called a plumber immediately.
In fact, Water Regs UK found that plumbing is the number one botched DIY job in the home, with more plumbers than any other trade reporting they were called to correct homeowner/tenant mistakes. Ultimately, what started as a way to save money most likely ended up costing considerably more.
