Today, was an unexpected surprise. We were walking Today, was an unexpected surprise. We were walking around Grafham and suddenly it started to hail, which very quickly turned to snow. It fell quickly, big flakes too. It was amazing. I’ve wanted snow all Winter and we got some, albeit for about half an hour.

The kids were so happy to have a bit of snow. They played snow angels and had a mini snow fight. Can you see them in the background?

I took this photo from a log, where I’d taken shelter as poor Snoopy doesn’t get on well in snow. It clumps in his paws and he can’t walk. So I had to carry him to a safe place, whilst Daddy went to get the car for us.

As soon as he got to us with the car, it of course stopped snowing and Snoopy started walking again! Typical. But always an adventure with these guys... always fun #memories and always smiles.

Did you get a little snow today?

We did go through a stage where Noah really lashed out as a result of Isla winding him up. We’ve worked hard on getting them to both vent their anger in different ways. Not to take it out on their #siblings.

It’s so nice when they get on, it makes everything better. Lifts the mood. Makes me smile and fills my heart full of love.

Anyone else having the rollercoaster of children’s moods at the moment?

Today was just a beautiful Wintery day, we made th Today was just a beautiful Wintery day, we made the most of it by taking a long, blustery, walk. We walked past this old bridge, the kids love it.

When they were teeny tots we used to walk this way to their nursery / old school. It’s a very nostalgic walk. It was so nice to see their faces light up as we approached it.

It was Noah’s idea to have a photo in the middle of the bridge. They used to scoot over here so quickly, I remember my heart falling out of my mouth!

We got back home and watched Onward on @disneyplusuk - it is a fabulous movie. Had us laughing, shouting noooooo and crying. I recommend it as a good break from Maths and English. Wizardry magic is part of the curriculum, right?

It was nice to have time out together and then a big #hug when we got home. It’s stressful, busy and tiring at the moment but I do love seeing my babies more than I normally would.

What’s the latest movie you watched?

#Gifted Do you have a little bookworm? 🐛 We ar #Gifted Do you have a little bookworm? 🐛 We are loving this book from @egmontbooksuk, that launched back in October. If you like Lemony Snicket & Despicable Me, you’ll love it too.

The Beast and the Bethany is absolutely hilarious and a gruesome story, aimed at 8+ children and we just love it. Here’s a quick summary of the story:

“Ebenezer Tweezer is a youthful 511-year-old. He keeps a beast in the attic of his mansion, who he feeds all manner of things (including performing monkeys, his pet cat and the occasional cactus) and in return the beast vomits out presents for Ebenezer, as well as potions which keep him young and beautiful. But the beast grows ever greedier, and soon only a nice, juicy child will do. So when Ebenezer encounters orphan Bethany, it seems like (everlasting) life will go on as normal. But Bethany is not your average orphan”...

As part of our homeschool routine we are reading more, the kids and myself included! Definitely one for the homeschooling reading list, thanks Jack Meggitt Phillips (author).

I made this image inspired by the front cover of the book!

Did you know it’s 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝗪𝐞𝐞𝐤? It’s that #SmearForSmear time ladies! Smear tests are the 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 against cervical cancer but they aren’t always easy, and coronavirus has added additional challenges to attending. I had my recent test during the November 2020 lockdown, it was safe and over quicker than normal. Surely that’s a bonus!⁣
⁣
For my new followers, as I haven’t really talked about it since last year, I am a huge advocate of the smear test after the ordeal I went through 4 years ago. ⁣
⁣
My smear test results had come back adnormal. Which is very normal! However, my gynaecologist called me as I got my results to tell me my cervix looked red and “angry” and along with the abnormal cell results she was convinced I had cervical cancer. I remember being at work and just breaking down in the ladies, I thought I was going to die.⁣
⁣
A long story short, I had 𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐙 treatment at hospital as the cells needed removing during the examination. They were pre-cancerous cells. Basically, if I had left them a little longer they 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 have been cancerous.⁣
⁣
It wasn’t a nice process. It wasn’t dignified. But, I’ve given birth twice, a little cervical cancer check isn’t going to scare me. Don’t forget. Get yours booked in.⁣
⁣
And if you have any symptoms, anything that isn’t normal for you, book a GP appointment. A #smear test could save your life.⁣

One thing I’ve loved, that has come out of lockd One thing I’ve loved, that has come out of lockdown, is being at home with my furbabies. They’ve got a new routine, they seem happier and it’s just so lovely to see them all day.

The cat stays inside more, he snuggles in the house more during the day, I think it’s because he knows we’re home. Did you know stroking the animals can be de-stressing?

I’ve got a little routine going this week with the dogs, we go for a nice lunchtime walk. It breaks the day up for all of us and gets us some much needed fresh air.

@forthglade are running their #PawsitiveVibes campaign again, offering tips and ideas for dog owners during lockdown. And so mine is quite simply take a break during your working day, a break from homeschool and get out. Even if you don’t want to do it. The fresh air is so beneficial for you, the dogs love a good walk and the kids love it too.

It’s good for your mental health and your dogs. The #magic of a walk.

Forthglade supply the best dog food, my dogs just love it and it lasts a long time too. We have lots of their flavours, our current favourite is the chicken & vegetables.

Today is National Winnie the Pooh day, well it was (18 January). I love Pooh Bear, he’s my favourite and I used to love reading his stories, drawing him and pretending I had a little piglet best friend. I loved to imagine I lived in the hundred acre wood too, this is the closest I get to my little hundred acre wood: our local park and the woodland that surrounds it. I’m sure there’s a Pooh Corner hiding here somewhere!

So many fabulous quotes from the books, but the quote I chose is prominent today as it really is the small things that make me happy. I love the little things. The unintentional acts of kindness. The things that could sometimes go unnoticed.⁣

I miss those #icy walks on the beach. It’s somet I miss those #icy walks on the beach. It’s something I’m really missing this lockdown, not being able to drive to the coast. Im pretty certain a 90 min drive to the seaside, will not count as a local drive or essential travel. It’s one of the first things we do when the restrictions lift though.

We had a really slow day yesterday. Well I did. Partly due to the morning being a write off whilst we all sat in anticipation that the gas engineer would fix our heating. Which he claims to have done.

Then Isla and I went for a long walk, with a pit stop at the coffee shop. Got home and had a yummy roast dinner and we just took it slow. I read an entire book yesterday. I’ve never done that before. It’s called The Family Upstairs, by Lisa Jewell. It was a great read and I had no idea what was going to happen, my predictions all wrong.

What did you do this weekend? I hope it was chilled and you’re ready for the next week... we CAN do this.
