There is nothing that little girl’s love more than a fun sleepover with their friends! Pyjamas, party games, popcorn, and films all make the ideal sleepover. A princess theme will make your sleepover even more special and memorable. Give your little girl the fun-filled party she deserves with these tips on how to throw a magical princess sleepover. With Isla turning 9 next week she is desperate to have a sleepover, albeit we must wait for lockdown restrictions to lift.

Send out cute sleepover invites

All good sleepovers start with an invitation and sending out invites should be your first party planning task. Make sure you give all of the little princesses (and their parents) plenty of notice by sending out invites early. You can send your invites by mail, email, or post them online. Sit down with your little girl to write the guest list and decide how to send invites to her friends.

Choose princess-themed invites to get the guests excited and remember to include all important info. This should include what time the party is starting/finishing, what food will be provided, and whether they need to bring anything. You should also let your guests know whether there is a dress code such as pyjamas or Disney princess dresses. You can order princess invitations on Etsy or download free templates online.

Create a magical atmosphere

Create a magical atmosphere by decorating your home with princess-themed decor. You can buy a huge variety of princess decorations online and in-store. Think pink and decorate using bunting, balloons, banners, and other princess-themed decorations. According to Little Lucy Willow: “Pretty scatter cushions and throws can complement a princess theme and add a feeling of royalty to your little girl’s room.”

You can also buy accessories like tiaras, wands, jewellery, and princess dresses for your little girl and her friends to wear at the sleepover. Give each guest a princess kit so they can dress up, get involved, and have lots of fun.

Make a cosy sleeping environment

Modern sleepovers have evolved from having rows of sleeping bags on the floor. Nowadays, you can purchase or hire a huge selection of cool sleepover equipment such as teepees and bell tents. This will help you create a fun, magical and cosy sleeping environment for your little princess and her friends.

Think carefully about the sleeping arrangements and make sure you have enough space for everyone to get a comfortable night’s sleep. You can use blowup beds, camp beds, or fold-out sofas to create extra sleep space. Ask guests to bring along extra pillows and bedding if you think you might be short.

Provide tasty food and snacks

Sleepovers are fun and special occasions, so it’s okay to let your little one indulge a little. Tasty treats and snacks are a sleepover staple, but make sure you provide a healthy and substantial evening meal and breakfast. You also need to check whether anyone has allergies or food intolerances before you plan your sleepover food and snacks.

You can get inspiration for magical princess party food ideas by searching online. For instance, you can dip pretzel sticks in pink icing and sprinkles to make princess wands or order a custom princess-themed cake. If you want to offer a healthier option, then make edible wands by skewering fresh fruit slices like kiwi and strawberries. You can also use cutters to create sandwiches and pizza slices in the shape of crowns or unicorns. Get creative and create a sleepover menu that is perfectly suited to your little princess. I made this beautiful princess cake for Isla one year.

Organise fun games and activities

No sleepover is complete with fun games and activities. Keep your little princess and her friends entertained with princess-themed party games like cinderella’s ball musical statues, a royal treasure hunt, a princess pinata. It’s best to have a few different games in mind so that the girls can choose what activities they want to do.

Watching Disney films is another fun activity that you can do at a princess sleepover. Plan activities in the afternoon and then watch films in the evening when the little one’s get tired. Make sure you prepare tasty film snacks like popcorn, sweets, and hot chocolate and provide blankets and cushions to create a cosy atmosphere.
